Athlon x4 860K > Pentium G3258. That's about it

8350 beats an i5 4460 when all 8 cores are used though

The performance per core of AMD CPU's is typically lesser, that's why you'll see a i5 with four cores beating out a 8350 with eight cores. Your best off getting on the Intel platform regardless because you can always upgrade to something great if you get an i3 / Pentium. If you get an 4300 or 8350 it's not worth spending money to upgrade because the performance will be negligible.

1150 is a dead socket :P

8350 using all 8 cores at rendering, editing or streaming will actually surpass an i5 4460 - thing is - games usually use 4 cores or less.

1150 is not dead, 1151 just came out and while they're not producing new CPU's for it anymore it's still the smartest platform to go to till Skylake drops in price and so does DDR4 ram. i5's and i7's are absolute beasts, and 1150 is still king IMO- I don't think Skylake had enough performance increase for it to give a devastating blow to its predecessor.

Newbs? .. Your post deserves a ban in my opinion, for two reasons. Calling users "Newbs" for using a specific brand, secondly for using "Newbs" in a post. I sincerely hope you don't say "Newbs" in real life.

Lol first of all a newb is another word for noob which means a person who is inexperienced in a particular sphere or activity, especially computing or the use of the Internet. So fyi that word explains someone perfectly buying a amd cpu.

I know they are good but 1150 is dead for the same reason AM3+ is dead - no new chips being produced. A technicality but still there :P

a newb is not short for noob since it has the exact same syllable count.

"Noob" is generally used when you are trying to mock or offend someone. It is inherently unpleasant to hear and thus regarded as offensive. Please take some time to rephrase yourself next time. Use "Novice" or "Beginner" as more accurate representations of what you are trying to say.

No, dead means there's nothing good / it's too old. Alive but growing old is different. The newest 1150 chips are only like <1.5 years old.

Tight budgets for builds that you plan to upgrade in a year or 2 is fine. Starting off with AMD isn't that bad. Honestly no one should get anything from the fx series, except the fx 6300

FX 6300 is  tosh.

Athlon X4 860K is better and so is any i3.

It might be your opinion but the way the rest of the world regards it is another matter hence why you should rephrase unless you prefer sounding arrogant and offensive.
