AMD CPUs have some uses. For example, I'm likely going to use an AMD CPU in a server because they have ECC support for a lot less than Intel do. (Just to be clear, the i3 has ECC too but the only mobo's I can find in NZ are like $500)

I have used an AMD CPU for a few years and have found that it works really well under high load with games running on ultra and having a video render in the background. I also have seen people using Intel CPU's have a much harder time with certain games I play (ex. KSP, ETS2, etc.). I also own 2 laptops with Intel CPU's, the first computer is a dinosaur with a celeron that runs admirably for being about a decade old (running chrome and other internet browsers very well as long as you don't watch videos), and the Newer computer, which is running an i5 is very good at running high end 3D modelling (ie. solidworks), and video editing. So I really don't think there is that much of a difference between them, I guess it's really up to the user to decide which is better for their needs/wishes.

AMD FX is as old as the cretaceous period. It lacks usb 3.0, sata express, nvme, and doesn't even support pcie 3.0. Apu aren't classified as proper cpus, and with the lack of any exciting news from amd for enthusiast, except a bunch of apus, which mostly goes into aio, netbooks, notebooks, budget builds, and Intel getting further and further ahead with performance. Most of us have lost interest with AMD. Maybe Zen will change all of that, but who knows if that will be the case. According to wiki, Zen's started back in 2012, 3 years later, still no product yet, and we have to wait until the end of 2016 or 2017 for it. So that's about 5 years wait time for Zen. Mean while in 2017, Intel is already at CannonLake.

No, they're doing what they can with their limited budget....and it's not working particularly well for them. Not to mention that "lot more" will more than likely be less than or equal to the net gain offered from Intel over the years.

 

Intel's business is far better when you realize that people like to buy things that just came out, and not everyone is on the same buy cycle when it comes to electronics. So yearly releases is better than once every five or so year-releases.

AMD is too far behind in marketing, Intel and nvidea are so popular because they are known to be high-end, good quality products (even when they aren't) and AMD is known to be the budget choice if you live in an igloo and have free electricity.

AMD have been attempting big changes with a much lower budget for a lower user base than Intel meaning they cannot put forwards the same resources.

Zen should be considerably better than bulldozer (although bulldozer isn't great), with much less power (according to rumours). Skylake was at most 10% better than Haswell (although it did add DDR4 support) but overall I agree the performance increase will be similar to Intels over the year.

Overall I agree with you, Intel knows how to make money, they are a much better business.

intel got to make new products, because if they do not saturate the market enough, they will slowly lose market share to AMD (like super slowly).... why?

Bulldozer was also supposed to be a significant improvement over Phenom II. It wasn't. It was also supposed to blow away Intel's CPUs. It didn't - but their marketing was very optimistic. They made the Bulldozer architecture part of their FX lineup because they were expecting huge performance gains. It was a massive letdown.
