Gaming CPU needed? MMO

Which one would be faster for Gaming / MMOing (1-2 Cores used)
FX-8320 oc'ed to 4,5GHz/4,8GHz/5GHz or Xeon E3 1231 V3 ?

Just get a cheap H81 or B85 board with the Xeon, Intel is better than AMD in single core strength which is more important than more cores so I would generally always recommend Intel. Also you need a beefy motherboard for overclocking that CPU

well what do you expect... its a new cpu/mobo but has way better performance than a 8320

You'd be better off with a 4460 and H97 or H81 board if you wanted to save money.

Technically if he only cares about MMOs then a G3258 would be plenty (if he's not doing anything else too demanding in the background) -- if he really cares about saving money. Or an i3 to save a bit of money but give him a bit more room to play with than just a G3258.

Iv'e had both and the 8320 oced to 4.4 was still a good amount slow than my xeon e3 1231 v3 at stock in multithreaded apps and the in single threaded it was even better.

Nah I'm playing games like DA:Origins,GTAV and so on as well.But I'm sick of 25 fps in GW2 on medium settings with an FX-8320 and R9 290.I'm sick of having poor performance in DA:Origns,poor performance in MMOs.
If that 300€ investment gives me a boost of 20-30 fps then I'll take it.

Just go with an i5 then, a Xeon or a locked i7. The FX 8*** series will struggle due to its age and nature.
