I'm looking for one to buy, what is the fastest gtx 980 ti?

EVGA Hybrid, MSI Lightning, and EVGA Kingpin. maybe Galax HOF (and their weird Liquid nitrogen capable version)

Evga kingpin edition currently but you might want to factor in other things when deciding on a new graphics card like noise, size, customer support and price.

980 TI KP is the fastest, has the best overclocking VRAM, and I have yet to see someone that couldn't hit over 1520 mhz on one.

I would get a good one that's priced near the 650 dollar mark, when you start paying over 700 the diminishing returns go up exponentially, so, Asus Strix is great, G1 gaming is great, zotac amp! extreme is great but IMHO when you reach the level of the Kingpin, the HOF or the MSI lightning, you're basically paying for bragging rights and maybe 1-2 extra FPS (at the price of 50+ dollars per extra FPS) so, niche cards aside, Asus, gigabyte and Zotac are all good options.

Kingpin if you can find one for a decent price off from their website. But even the one of the website is still overpriced. I just don't see paying $250 extra and only be running it on air because of the RGB leds.

MSRP for the reference 980 Ti is $649, I believe, so you're probably not getting a new one for much less than that. Most of them I'm seeing on Newegg are more like $680-700 at present.

 

It's a de facto flagship card in high demand, with spotty competition, and a long life ahead of it. So I wouldn't expect to see major sales or rebates anytime soon either.
