If Zen really is pushed back to Q4 will you just go ahead and buy Intel?

Because some of us have enjoyed our AMD products. Like I said, I've been extremely impressed with the Fury line. I love my 8350 and have faith Zen will be great.

I can understand enjoying the older AMD CPU (Phenom II and earlier), or the R9  series. But really? You enjoy one of the worst CPU ever made by AMD?

Honestly, I wasn't considering upgrading to it in the first place tbh... Efficiency is kinda up there on my list.

Im happy with what i have , and knowing if it ever comes to the point it will bottleneck GPUs , a simple overclock will do .

I mean it has it's negatives but I enjoy it. I'm not a PC gamer outside of WoW and Total War since I have one functional hand and I can game much better with a controller. Maybe if I was I'd feel different.

I'm currently running it in my AMD build and have a 3570K in my Intel/Nvidia build. I have nothing but positive things to say about the 8350, even when compared to the other. It gets the job done for me. It's a great multi-tasking CPU and renders pretty fast. Even the small bit of gaming I've done on it has been enjoyable.

If I can get all of that along with the 40% more IPC they claim with Zen, I'll be beyond happy. I'll have a good rig and I'll be helping out a company that needs it.

AMD have kept the same socket for years now which is a blessing for cooler options, I'd love to see AMD give it a try but can't help but feel that due to them having no real contenders for intel who already have a great deal of trust with their fans (seriously look at the comments in this thread and others, AMD never gets mentioned, it's i5 or go home). For me AMD has lost it the APUs where a great idea on a mega tight budget but like the FX for it to be viable they need to be cheaper and you have to overclock them to get good gaming results and i'm not just talking CPU overclock, the motherboard needs to be clocked, the RAM needs to be fast with tight timings etc but intel consumers just go off stock benchmarks so it looks bad.

 

But at the end of the day would you rather spend a few weeks overclocking a weak CPU compared to Intel to get some good performance or buy an i5, don't bother setting the RAM or overclocking it and get great performance in games even though it isn't even optimized? I know what I'd pick, the i5 I originally wanted but couldn't afford.

I would love to see AMD finally catching up Intel but it doesn't look good for AMD. I hope they have something up their sleeves with ZEN. As for the question yeah i would buy Intel anyway.

For most, you probably won't but for me I have everything in my system maxed and overclocked including my 970 at 1.5ghz.... for now until I flash the bios and go for 1.6ghz.

That was because some motherboard manufacturers didn't actually set up any form of thermal protection-the way they all do now with the newer CPU. The FX series straight up blows and is a noticeable downgrade over the older Phenom II line.
