I would like to think not. But, who knows what the future will bring...

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

Many years ago I used to work in a clean room and I *was* replaced by machines. A very large percentage of the workforce was, and the layoff was even on the news.

After the re-tooling was completed and the new fab was ready for production, they left me voicemail asking if I was still looking for work and if so, if I wanted to go back. I never returned the call because of the job I had [have] at the time.

A machine or software could definitely not replace me and my department now. I'm in a different line of work, but it requires a human eye and decision-making. So, I'm safe now. Plus I'm making a lot more money now than I was. Win.

machines dont know the value of old things, they cant run their fingers across a rusted spoke or fender and enjoy the feeling of great craftsmanship or feel the emotions that follow. (i horde old bicycles and old Briggs & Stratton motors.)

I guess? I can't imagine that anyone would design a machine to sit and watch youtube video's most of the day, shitpost on forums, and occasionally do college course work.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

My God! The machines will take all the jobs before I'm old enough to get one! Swiftly, we must organise ourselves into LinusAnti-techTips, a resistance group which will save us all from the rise of the machines.

Right now being replaced by a machine sucks, but the money you lose is probably made up in lower prices for someone else if it makes you feel better. It would make me feel poor, but I'm sure there are optimists out there somewhere.

In all seriousness though, why haven't all jobs making cars or GPUs been taken by machines? They can crank out better product (not drugs, though imagine the efficiency you could get) faster with less wasted material. Surely they would pay for themselves rather quickly.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

I work part time during my holidays folding clothes and tending to customers at events.

Not sure if a machine can do that...

In the hospital where I work? No. The tech has gotten so much better and more safe for people, which is good, but no machine will be able to replace me.

But hospitals will be useless we will all be Adam Jensens

I work retail, so I guess you don't even need a machine to replace me, we already have online stores. HOWEVER, nothing works better as a lightning rod for ignorant hate and stupidity than an actual human being. I think I'm safe.

I'm a student at the moment, so no I don't think I'll be replaced. However looking at a potential job I would like to do,chick is eventually be a teacher, I know machines could replace teachers but I doubt they would be as good for everyone.

3D designer and student. Honestly wouldn't mind if machines took over the vast majority of the boring bits of my work. Rigging, manifold checking for 3d printing etc I could do without.
Wonder how long it'll be before Humanity works out that if all the jobs are taken by machines they'll actually be free to do anything they like. That'll be a good day.

"The wheel?" "No thanks, I'll walk, its more natural" - thus was the beginning of the doom of the Human race.
Cheese monger.

Probably not, as I'm (in theory) going to go into editing, and I doubt that a computer could reasonably cut video as well as a human could (although I suppose it could run through an edit decision list fairly well...)
