Laptop for school

Freaky_spider

Hello!,

I'm searching for a laptop for mostly schoolwork and maybe some light gaming, i havent followed the laptop "scene" since 2010, so im out of date on what's good and what's not.

What im searching for:

-13-15" inch screen (touch screen not necessary)

-Good keyboard

-Hi-res screen (1080p+)

-Aluminium build

-dedicated GPU (or intel iris pro)

-Skylake (preferably an i7 for the hyperthreading)

- 10+ hours of batterylife

What would be nice:

-USB-C (future proofing yo!)

-SD card slot

-numpad (would be very nice)

I've already looked into a macbook pro and then dualbooting windows 10 on it, but its really bothering me that it doesnt have skylake... Otherwise i'm really not up-to-date on laptops :/

I've looked into the google chromebook 2 on which i would put windows 10, but im not sure how the batterylife would be with windows on it (i would go for the LS version)

I know my lists is pretty impossible to get, so the more of the essential requirements it, obviously, the better.

Almost forgot, my max budget is 2500€+- (yes, i know thats a lot for a laptop which is mainly for text editing, but i have no idea what im going to use it for later, so id rather get something good)

Thanks in advance

Either XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 2015

XPS 13:

Amazing screen (if you get the high res touch version)

Does overheat slightly

Very compact and lightweight, due to small bezels

Horrible Battery life, under 4 hours

Macbook pro (retina) 13" 2015:
Great screen (color accuracy is better)

Build quality is FANTASTIC

Does not overheat

No bottom vents so you can actually put it on your lap (i usually have a laptop sleeve under it)

AMAZING battery life, I usually get 9 hours on 50% brightness

Better CPU than XPS 13 (and iGPU)

OSX is fantastic, you can get used to it fast..

Both laptops are the same price

I say go for Macbook Pro

I speak from experience since 3 weeks ago I had an XPS 13 but it was pretty disappointing since battery was crap, and so was the performance

I got a macbook pro the week after and it's been  my best friend, just the fact that waking from sleep takes so little time is AMAZING.
Also, I got a dbrand skin for my mac and i gotta say, i'm never going to suggesst the XPS 13 over the macbook pro ever again

Lol you can't get all of those things.

The closest you can get is the Razer Blade 14, but its battery life isn't great.

well, its stupid for anything CPU or GPU related, but when it's about connectors it pretty safe to use imho. usb-c is bound to be the next standard

very few notebooks have skylake, it was just released

10+ hours of battery life is pretty damn hard to reach.

Honestly, the Asus UX305 is really good for its price. Or maybe the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro. Want to spend more? Then Asus UX303LA/LB or Dell XPS 13.

Or you could get something like a Surface (Pro) 3.
