NZXT H440 | i5-6600K

Blake Gall

It's okay but the G1 it isn't exactly a PSU I would get but still better than a CX

mines fine, was a good price  for what it is, i wont be getting another psu for a few years now, since newer gen cards use less power from nvidia anyway.

my psu is a tier 2 according to that list.

Gpu: MSI 4G GTX 970 | Cpu: i5 4690k @4.6Ghz 1.23v | Cpu Cooler: Cryorig r1 ultimate | Ram: 1600mhz 2x8Gb corsair vengeance | Storage: sandisk ultra ii 128gb (os) 1TB WD Green | Psu: evga supernova g1 650watt | Case: fractal define s windowed |

I currently have two of the parts for this build, the H440attachicon.gifDSC00075.JPG and the Corsair CX600M.attachicon.gifDSC00076.JPG

I should only be running two old low-res monitors. Here's the rest of the parts.

Core i5-6600K

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

ASUS Z170-P MOBO

G.Skill Ripjaws 4 8GB-DDR4-2133

WD Caviar Blue 1TB

Gigabyte GTX970 (GV-N970TTOC-4GD)

WIN 8

Cost From Newegg: $963 USD(Sorry NCIX... :P)

*Not Including Parts I already have....*

Also... If I want to do some custom sleeving, it should be about $63 USD from Mainframe Customs. That'd be nice to do.

I'll probably get the rest of the parts around Christmas time so there's a good bit of time for any suggestions.

I plan on using this rig for gaming, video editing, and rendering.

I also want some suggestions for what to do between now and then with my H440 and CX600M. Thank You!

Now onto the topic I would just leave it as it is until the rest comes through

Have you had experience with a CX PSU?

The ones you see in videos blowing up are the retards that draw more power than the actual PSUs can handle and don't know how to build PCs.

It's the same story with Apple products. People hop on the hate train because they get butthurt people are still buying their products.

Your point? "Acceptable"

Acceptable is well... an acceptable rating.

As it says in the thing unless you're on a tight budget or have low heat output components get something better

Tbh, it is tier 2b(g1) . It is ok.

To the point, there is custom sleeving for the cx series? :o  Sleeve what? 4 modular cables? Better return the cx and get something better with the money.

There's so many replies about the PSU that I didn't feel like quoting them all. Firstly, I've already ordered it so I don't feel like returning it, mainly because my friend (via youtube) used this same exact PSU and he hasn't had a bad experience. Also, I'm not exactly old enough to do all the ordering and returning myself so I'd rather not go through the hastle. It's better than this power supply though! :P

For the GPU, I'm trying to stay towards team green, mainly for gamestream, and other NVidia only features. For the PSU I'm almost certain that I'm not returning the power supply unless it's absolutely necessary since I've already bought it. I'm also trying to find parts that are all available at one store, preferably newegg, though we could probably go with NCIX.

Thank you for the list though...

get everything from ncix as you can pricematch everything. newegg doesn't allow you to do this. if you're going for nvidia, get the 970 over the 390. the 390 will perform better, but it's your call

edit:

keep the case you have, it's fine. just see if you can return the psu. that's all. it'll all work out

Ok... BTW It'll be a few days until I make any progress since all my parts are about 60-80 Miles away from where I am right now. Thank you for your help!:D

Doing a bit of tweeking... I'm waiting for my friend's opinion on whether he trusts his PSU or not and then I might change it... but for now, I've changed the memory to some HyperX Fury Black to match my color scheme, and I'm switching to an asus strix 970.

here you go... the 390X is slightly weaker then the GTX 980, but it is also A LOT cheaper.... Although, currently it seems like AMD will perform pretty damn good in DX12. Not going to claim they will be better then Nvidia. But the 390X will certainly NOT hold you back.
