Can anyone come up with specs that have more or equal performance to a ps4 but a lower equal price? I tried but end up about $13 over but with more performance.

You are not going to get the same performance in games between a PS4 and a PC with similar specifications. The reason is because of game optimizations. Console games will have much heavier optimization than PC games.

You cannot make a PC with more performance than a PS4 but costing less. You simply cannot. I have tried. Many will try. All will fail.

The PS4 has the graphical prowess of a GTX 660/660 Ti/7850/7870, hardware wise, but with optimizations will push well beyond that.

It has an 8 core CPU.

It has 8GB of GDDR5 RAM.

So no, you cannot do it.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/CoolBeans_/saved/23Qs this but with the cheapest 8gb RAM you can find and maybe a 7850 if you can find one in the budget

I don't see a Dual core AMD working well with a 7850..

I know that my 660 is equal to the ps4 but I also know that processor and ram are a ton better.

while the ps4 is stuck at 660 level with heavy optimization in 1 year, I will of upgraded my gpu and far surpassed what the ps4 is capable of

Can't be done. If you included everything a ps4 will have a controller (mouse+keyboard) and an os you will be way over budget. You just can not beat at ps4/xb1 price to performance for a couple years.

Still better than a PS4

Lol, as much as I hate the PS4, it really isn't.. But, as a PC, it's obviously better.

Is it because ps4 components are bought in bulk? And will a pc with similar specs be able to last as long as the ps4?

You really don't want to build a PC with equivalent specs to a console, it will get outdated very fast. One of the downsides to PC gaming is that it is more costly than console gaming, so if you want to game on PC, wait and save up money and buy something that will last. Just my opinion though.

simple- a ps4 will be better for the same price.
"so why dont you get a ps4 then"
because you pay £350 for a ps4, then they make a slim for £350 then they make a super uper duper slim for £300 then after 10 years they make the ps5 for £500 (thanks to inflation)

we, buy a new graphics card....

if you spend £300 on a pc when the xbox 360 (lets say falcon) came out now the xbox one has come out you could spend the £350 it would cost to buy a ps4 on a 7950 with change to spare for a better cpu and ram and have more performance on the whole.

pc hardware is more powerful but costs more BUT over the coarse of time thanks to being able to upgrade and tailor it to your needs cost about the same (while giving you that better performance).

also the ability to do other things on the platform is better, sure you can now share things on facebook, but you cant do bitcoining, or video rendering or use it as a server or so on and all the things that you can do with a pc.

i call this bullshit.. hardwarewise its more like a 560Ti / 7750 but with the optimizations its getting close to a 7850/660Ti.. but it has to be mentioned: the PS4 CAN NOT be overclocked from stock (i guess some guys will figure out how to OC thier PS4 lol)

Optimization will play a massive roll in the consoles.

When games get better optimized for consoles, because they will run more then 2 cores, they willg et optimized for PC Multithreading aswell.. PC will always be faster, better, stronger... there is no way around it

You guys talk about optimizations for consoles, the consoles are now x86, wont that mean the optimizations will benefit pc too?

No. Because you're running a certain set of hardware and software(two main competitors in the console market). While PCs run various OSes, CPUs, GPUs, etc.
