NSA loophole allows warrantless search for US citizens' emails and phone calls

AndThenThereWas1

Well, once again the Obama administration has been caught in yet another lie. They said that the US people are safe from warrantless searches. They said the 4th amendment was safe, but "The previously undisclosed rule change allows NSA operatives to hunt for individual Americans' communications using their name or other identifying information. Senator Ron Wyden told the Guardian the NSA's authorities provide loopholes that allow 'warrantless searches for the phone calls or emails of law-abiding Americans'". I suspected as much, but finally we have proof. I really don’t know what to say anymore. I guess we will have to wait until the next election to show them the wrath of the people. I, for one, will not vote any current politician back into office. I just hope enough people feel the same way.

This crap is getting hilarious....

It's Friday, I'm at work, and this made me a bit happier. Thank you :)

In all seriousness though, bulk collection of data isn't a problem if nothing is done with it. One of the more serious concerns is the potential for inadvertent accusations to arise and the potential for abuse if not checked, which I imagine is where a some of the privacy concerns stem from.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei

Just because a lot of people (including me) suspected it does not mean it is OK to lie and spy on innocent people.

I see.

Personally I don't think this is hilarious. I think it's sad. Very, very sad.
