Kind of a bad title but what do I need to install on my new build? Things like MSI afterburner cpu-z file managers etc. I remember using a website to install many of these things on my laptop when I got it in 2010 but I can't remember what the site was called. Basically what software do you guys suggest?

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.

You're probably thinking of Ninite: https://ninite.com/

Things that are a must-have for me are

CCCP which comes with Media Player Classic. http://www.cccp-project.net/

Foobar2000, Speedfan, Quicktime for codecs, 7zip, WinRar, Gyazo, Skype, + all sorts of benchmarking/utility/content creation tools

ah thank you that's exactly it, that handles most of the little things so I don't have to go install them individually.

Besides the ones other have mentioned, VLC is a must.

VLC is one of many similar video players like Media Player Classic or Zoom Player. Although very popular, VLC doesn't exactly have the best video presets for viewing quality and I find that without tweaking, MPC is much preferred.

I still have VLC installed just in case though in the same way that I have both Firefox and Chrome. (been too lazy to install Opera nowadays)

In addition to MPC you could also add madVR and SVP for even better video reproduction!
