Posted September 2, 2015 I would suggest trying to see if you can get a kit with the 600D and a shotgun mic. The 600D is a bit older but nearly the same as the t6i(which is the 1200D IIRC) but has a lcd screen you can turn, a big plus when doing video stuff without too much/any help. May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Just looking for some advise and links. I think you would be better served by getting a camcorder. Otherwise you might end up like this guy who was also "new to the game" so to speak. Posted September 3, 2015 Author I will actually have 2 others helping out with it, one being a dedicated camera man/woman if you will. My plan is to upgrade the camera later on, but need something to begin with. And I have to laugh at the video as well...lol. I appreciate the looking out for there. I have already purchased some decent software, and my editing/testing build will be done by end of the year.
 Apart from the camera, do you have plans to purchase other accessories? As you may or may not know, recording video with a photo camera does require some extra accessories. And I am not talking about lenses or microphones, which you will also require. Posted September 4, 2015 Why not the new model like the t6s? T6s with a lens would go well over $1k, I think the idea behind getting a model year older is to save a few bucks while still getting a nice DSLR 4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650 Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)
 Posted September 20, 2015 I would recommend you save money and get a massdropped SL1 with kit lens (~$450-$475USD) + a decent tripod ($100-$150USD) + storebranded/amazon found lighting kit(umbrella+soft box +stands and lights) (~$150-$300USD) is a good starter.
