So i came back to my computer, and everything on my monitor is tinted purple.

This has happened a few times.

What could be causing this?

EDIT:

Apears to be monitor, issue is fixed after turning monitor off then on

Broken cable?

Checked the connection between monitor and pc?

If its VGA/DVI plug the damn cable in all the way

bad cable.

bad gpu.

bad monitor.

all possibilities.

Cable not in all the way?

Its HDMI, so no. and it just randomly happens, and goes away after restart.

My old monitor did this, but it never actually affected anything. Mostly it happened when I'd install updates, and restart Windows to finalize the install. Try resetting your color calibration in Windows, and doing it through the monitor instead. My old monitor still hasn't died, and I've had it for five years now, and it's got over 25,000 hours on its backlight. I wouldn't be concerned that it's your GPU, as I had the same issue.

ok.

It is a oldish non LED CCFL monitor.

It was bought aboutt 5 years ago, and it is a debranded HP, so no support whatsoever from HP

Might be the monitor's internal graphics processing

do you use VGA ?

if yes. the cables break and do this. if you play around with it you get different colors. wich is quite fun. but also annoying :P

Just did that to my DisplayPort cable which essentially uses the same technology. Nothing happened.

you gotta bend it until the conductors break and/or short against each other. try slowly unplugging a DVI cable and you can get weird colors
