BenQ BL2710PT or GW2765HT? Is the GW2765HT same image quality?

Spaced

I have seen the GW2765HT for £280 and the BL2710PT for £350. They both quote the same spec but have a different bezel and some graphics design features built into the BL2710PT to adjust the monitor I think. I am wondering if I can save myself £70 and get the GW2765HT or will I see a increase in image quality with the BL2710PT? It is not specific when reading about these monitors and I can't find any decent reviews from an expert like Linus. The other features are nice on the BL2710PT but not worth £70 extra however if there is an increase in image quality I would like to get the BL2710PT because it does have a much nicer bezel. Any help appreciated.

They do appear to use the same panel, so the image quality should be very similar between the two.

Yeah they both use the M270DAN01.0 Panel from AUO. So should be close to the same.

It looks that way on amazon but the price is wildly different. Amazon were selling it for £280 before they put this notice up underneath the item.

"While this item is available from other Marketplace Sellers on this page, it's not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are dispatching it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)"

So I am a little skeptical. The £70 price difference for just a bezel and cam mode doesn't seem right to me. So I'm thinking maybe there must be some image quality difference

It sounds like one or both of the items are being sold (and priced) by independent parties who are selling through Amazon, so prices don't necessarily have to make sense.

Actually the BL2710PT is being sold by Amazon and the GW2765HT was being sold by Amazon for £280 before they put this message up

It is not specific when reading about these monitors and I can't find any decent reviews from an expert like Linus.

If you really want to go into detail, with specific reviews of both displays then these are probably the best:

BL2710PT: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_bl2710pt.htm

GW2765HT: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_gw2765ht.htm

They don't get much more detailed than that, if you read through both of them I'm sure it will help you decide which to buy.

The panel is the same, but there are other things that make a difference. You'll have to read the reviews to see if it's worth it to you.

Okay cool, and no worries, if you have any questions about anything in those reviews feel free to ask!

I think in the end the cheaper one will be the one which is worth it out of the two though.

Also for even cheaper, if you don't mind 25" instead of 27" there is this: http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Dell+UltraSharp+25+Inch+Widescreen+U2515H+QHD+IPS+Adjustable+PC+Monitor+?productId=62996

It comes in a 27" version too, although it's a bit more pricey.

Just reading through now. It looks as though they are very similar in picture quality if not exactly the same. However there are some direct comparisons between the two screens in the GW2765HT review that look at the "out of the box" (factory settings) picture quality and surprisingly there are some differences which make me wonder... My general opinion though is that they are gonna be the same quality and maybe some settings adjustments will bring them in line with each other.

Thanks also for the http://www.aria.co.u...productId=62996 suggestion. The main thing that puts me off this however is the 8ms response time G2G where as the BenQ screens both offer 4ms G2G. As my main use for this is gaming I will opt for spending a little extra for the good response time.

Thanks again for the responses I hope this also helps anyone else looking at these screens. If you do discover anything else worth noting though please do post as it will be about a month until I have the money to make the purchase and will check back here before I do so.

Response time really means nothing, you should just ignore it.

-snip-

Glad you found the reviews somewhat helpful!

As for the response times, like @Glenwing said it really isn't relevant, and you 100% shouldn't worry about it for gaming, especially not with the Dell I mentioned, the U2515H.

I wont try and explain why, because the FAQ Glenwing wrote (And linked you to) will already do a great job of explaining why, and after you read the first 2 points I'm sure you'll understand it a lot more.

But if it helps, the Dell U2515H actually has a better average g2g response time, and a smaller input lag than both the BenQ monitors! Look in the 'spoilers' below for a comparison :)

They shouldn't really put you off buying the BenQ's, more just to show you that the quoted response time means nothing! And even though the Dell isn't really marketed to gamers, and even though it has the higher quoted response time, in reality, the average response more than low enough for gaming, and same with the input lag (Although don't get the 2 confused, they are different things.)

The 2 comparison graphs? They were both from tftcentral, under the Dell's review, with every review they include those graphs and compare it to their findings in other monitors in the similar range that they reviewed.

Here is the link: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2515h.htm

More specifically under these 2 headers: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/dell_u2515h.htm#gaming & also http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/dell_u2515h.htm#lag

Thought I would put my final thoughts on here. After looking through the information provided by the extremely helpful o0Martin and Glenwing. It seems there is a clear winner. The dell definitely outshines the BenQ monitors. I was extremely surprised to find out how different the quoted specs could be and quite how little I knew about displays in general. At £250 for a Dell 25" IPS screen with half the input lag and G2G response time compared to the BenQ 27" IPS at £275. It is hard to ignore these stats if your interested in gaming, it is just unfortunate that the 27" version of the Dell U2715H costs £405!

I guess if you have the money go for the Dell U2715H with the faster input lagg and response time. - £405

Go for the BenQ GW2765HT if you HAVE to have 27" but can't afford a £405 monitor - £275 (I feel this can be important when going for a 2560x1440 screen)

But for the best spec and best price I would opt for the Dell U2515H - £242
