Plug in graphics card no display

I plugged in my graphics card with the connectors and no display. When I connect the hdmi to motherboard there is a display

• OS: Windows 10/10 Pro  • SSD: Samsung 256GB 850 Evo Series *  • HDD: Seagate 1TB  • GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X (SLI)
• CPU: i7-4790K OC 4.7GHz Quad-Core Processor • Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W
• RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory • Mobo: MSI Gaming 5

Are you sure you did stuff right?

Also, rummage around in the bios settings.

Sounds like a dead gpu.

Can you put it at the 2nd pcie slot

Yes it should be pcie 16x 3.0

Do you currently have the graphics card in the top-most slot, or in the second PCI-E X16/X8 slot?

 

Depending on the motherboard, and how it is designed, the second PCI-E X16/X8 is NOT enabled if the first, top-most, slot is empty.

 

Make sure, in the BIOS, the primary display device is set to [Auto] or [PCI-E].
