It is bottleneck but with my setup I don't get over 60 fps most of the time with seus ultra shaders. Mine craft isn't optimized to handle that

My Build: i7-4790K, 212 Evo, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600, Intel 730 240GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB, EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX 2.0, NZXT H440 Blue/Black, EVGA 650W 80+Gold.

Most of the time, it's not the computer, it's the person using it.

I get this too. I'm only using sphax 128x and the seus shaders.

Those shaders and Minecraft are REALLY cpu intensive. Your CPU is probably bottlenecking you. And Minecraft is just weird in general, and like the most unlogical game ever at giving FPS.

shaders absolutely hammer every part of your system, and the fx6300 is probably the first one to cry in a corner.

if you give me 10 minutes i'll see how seus ultra and optifine fare with a 4790K

--

that said, optifine doesnt do a whole lot of good anymore.

its cause of minekrafts shit rendering style

one second you getting 182 fps

you move one block ahead now your down to 20

Why does my  fps not get above 30 when I'm running SEUS Ultra and optifine on my 970. I get the feeling my fx 6300 hundred must be bottlenecking it but are shaders that CPU intensive, it still is only minecraft after all.

its because of 1.8

bet you that much.

1.8 is the stupidest version that claims it improves performance but just ruins the whole optimization of the game

so, i did a quick test on a 1.7.10 instance i had ready to go.

120FPS on a 4790K and a GTX970

i'll do some testing on a MC1.8 instance as well. (note seus shaders only officially supports up to 1.7.5)

EDIT: appareantly shaders in 1.8 is REALLY REALLY wonky.

those shaders pound the hell out of your cpu

with my i5 4590 and 280x i barely hit 45 FPS at 1440p

SEUS Shaders

Chroma hills 64x64

definitely get an i5 cause i can hit 60FPS with it at 1080p

Wait hold on.

A 980Ti?

CANT MAX OUT MINECRAFT?

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

minecraft is all CPU intensive, not gpu. you could get a 750 ti and a 5960x and that would max it out

that overclockable pentium (cant remember the model number) actually does better at minecraft than a 5960x

its all about the single core performance.

that is where you are correct and incorrect, In 1.8 it changed so it will now take advantage of your Graphics Card and CPU, Little did Mojang know, this broke the game

a lot... Hence why it now shows your Graphics Card and CPU. 1.7.10 and lower however, are based off of your CPU. The reason why 1.8 decreases performance is because your core clock on your GPU is much much lower then a CPU. Now with the coming updates, I have not seen a performance increase yet... But hopefully Mojang will realize soon enough that people with beast rigs cant run the most basic game at 60 FPS

but, did they now make use of multiple cpu threads? because thats where the difference lies in picking a cpu for minecraft.

EDIT: hows this: 120FPS, 1 cpu core loaded, 12% gpu usage

From what I have seen

Maybe, I've seen other peoples CPU's hammered where mine still only uses one core/two threads

AND Minecraft and multi-core performance  has known not to work well with each other at all (Optifine) In some cases it will cause a decrease in FPS

that is EXACTLY why the pentium is better: it has more single core performance than the (slightly lower clocked) 5960x (and more overclocking potential)

Out of the box Pentium is the best. Btw its the Pentium G3258, has a slightly higher clock speed (giving it the edge there) But you have to consider overclocking potential (Pentium wins that b/c stock cooler not included with 5960x and the chip runs extremely hot) But a 5960x isn't the best choice for gaming, the best chip you could get for gaming would be the 5820k and overclocking it. The highest end CPU doesn't always mean its the best, In some games, that may be true, in others, it wont.
