Is 60Hz enough?

Hermix

Is 60Hz really that bad? I'm not going to do any competitive gaming but i would like a smooth image. Should I get a 75Hz monitor or is 60Hz fine?

At the moment i've decided to go with this monitor if no one can suggest me a better monitor for $200.

Thank you in advance!

Monitors that are 75Hz are only 75Hz at lower resolutions. With a normal use case scenario, 60Hz would be the default and is completely fine.

60 is fine for general use and gaming. If you really want to drive up your experience on fast paced games 120/144 can make a decent difference, but it's hardly required for a smooth experience!

60hz is fine and relatively smooth, just not as good as 75-144hz. My monitors are 60hz, they don't hinder my gaming performance.

60hz is fine, might be able to overclock it to 75hz depending on the monitor. 144hz is heaps better

NO! Jk it really is, especially if you prefer quality over fps and play just over 60fps in the games you play. also 144 or 120 hz panels usually come with a price. I got my benq XL2411 144hz monitor at a locally pc store for 220$ CND so im sure you could find a 144hz panel similar to it around that price online. Keep in mind once you make the switch to 120 or 144hz, you cant go back. it literally is painful in some games like csgo, when you are always looking at 144hz and switch back to 60hz. That said its not as bad in games like BF4/HL where (like me) playing at 60 fps is all your used to in the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgHx3eMBXjI Is a great video showing the difference in csgo and basically will sport what i have said above but with visuals.

60hz is the most common currently and is perfectly fine for gaming.

The only times its not fine, is for those who are hardcore PvP players in game genres like FPS's, and ofc real professional gamers.

Don't go 120hz/144hz on a whim, as others have said, once u go there, u wont wanna go back to 60hz. I personally run on 60hz, not by choice ..but because I use a Plasma TV and cant stand LCD (be it TN, IPS, or VA) and am waiting on a good OLED screen to come out in the resolution and size im after.

At least you are getting a big IPS.

People who bought TN`s the past 3 years are soley responsible why we dont have 200$ 144hz IPS`s today.

If everyone had both 60Hz IPS's, so would we not have had 144Hz IPS's today.

Low IPS sale = They try something new to get people to buy them.

Good point.

Lets agree that 60hz TNs should be boycotted.
