Rekt by space?

Hello, Im in the market for a GPU to complete my first gaming rig.

All that remains is the GPU.

 

I cannot decide on what to get. The MSI R9 290.....or the MSI R9 390.

 

The deciding factor might just be the size of the card. Due to the 390 being such a massive card and me having such a small case.......I fear that the 390 won't fit inside the Cooler Master elite 130

 

I fear the dam USB 3.0 header will get in the way of the backplate on the 390! Now I understand that this is a very specific request......but if there is anyone out there with a caliper, or just a tape measurer.....can you please tell me how thick the backplate is on the 390? And if you want to go the extra mile maybe the thickness of the cooler? Thank you

Oh god no. I though I made it clear in the post that I had my heart set on a AMD card. A reference one of those is out of the question. Way too loud and way too hot.

That is an option, the card is facing downward and it isn't on its side so there is no risk of sag. Or I could remove the USB header and sacrifice 2 USB 3.0 ports. my Dell monitor has 2 3.0s built in and I still have a 2.0 port on the front panel.

Nah it isn't that hot or loud. Those were the AMD reference coolers back a couple years ago

Doesn't really matter, could not find any blower style 390s anyway.

The card will fit, the card is 2 inches thick and you have more than 2 inches of space in the case. And the backplate thickness doesnt extend passed the tab on the pcie slot. Pic for reference, if you look closely you can see the pcie tab.

Are there even any R9 300 series Reference Cards for sale? If you're talking about the R9 200 series reference cards not being loud or hot, you're wrong.
