Welcome to the reboot of the LTT Build-Off! The rules and guidelines can be found here.

This week you need to make an "LTT Themed" machine for $700. It should be efficient and cool. The primary use is gaming. Peripherals and a Monitor and you get a extra $300 for everything but all are necessary meaning Monitor, Keyboard pointing device, and audio Please give nickname if entering more than one build.
Other tips:

  • Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze PSUs are a must
  • Keep in mind the voltage of your RAM, what kind of HDD you have, and how overclocking will affect power draw
  • Airflow also counts

What the hell is with the restriction on the PSU 80+ rating.

Then go buy a Diablotek PSU and see how it will perform a few months later......

It just means you have to spend about $60 or so on a PSU, which really isn't much more than you'd be spending on Bronze anyways. According to PCPartPicker, the lowest-priced Silver entry is more than the three lowest-priced Gold entries, and there's some really solid Golds for just a bit more. So why not?

This is my build. I decided to make it black, white, and orange to fit the LTT theme. First off, I chose the CPU because it will perform really well, even if you upgrade the GPU later. The motherboard was chosen for its reliability, overclocking ability, and orange accents. The ram was chosen for its nice aesthetics, low price, and reputable brand. The hard drive was added for its very large capacity, low price, and acceptable performance. The GPU is there for its amazing aesthetics, great performance, and low relative price. The case is there because it looks great, has decent airflow, is cheap, and it white for the LTT theme. The PSU is amazing, as it is very efficient, practically silent, amazing looking, and is very reliable. The monitor was chosen for its IPS display, low price, and included speakers. The mouse and keyboard were chosen for their low price, great reviews, and the ability to set the backlight to orange or white to match the build.

Not really true. The 80+ rating doesn't say everything, but if something is Titanium rated you can be fairly sure that its of at least decent quality ;)

You can buy some really shity gold rated PSU's, and some bronze PSU's are amazing, the only thing it measures is electrical efficiency, it has nothing to do with any factor that will actually influence component lifespan.
