Intel Core i7 5930k or 4790k

Go to solution Solved by x Relentless Xx,

The only reason I might be getting the 5930k is DDR4 for future proofing and X99?

Do you think it's worth it?

First of all, future proofing doesnt exist

Secondly, a 5930K for gaming and photoshop is a complete waste. If you arent working with high res photos in photoshop then save your wallet and get a 4690k, anything more will be a waste.

And Skylake will still be using DDR3 so no, DDR3 is here to stay. DDR4 is still way too new to already become mainstream

It's always been known that is how it would be. In fact from what I read, the regular DDR3 won't even work. Skylake will use either DDR4 or DDR3L, which is not the same as DDR3.

Doesnt matter, DDR3 performs better than DDR4 in most cases anyways, its an all around bad idea lol case closed, im out lmao

Read all your posts, facepalmed each time. DDR4 isn't worse than DDR3... Also Skylake will support DDR4 and DDR3L, it does not support DDR3. Learn your computers mate.

Uh no....they wont. Skylake will be DDR3...period. No version of skylake will utilize DDR4. X99 will still be the only platform that uses DDR4. PERIOD

Skylake supports ddr3l and ddr4, not ddr3. It's up the motherboard on type of ram they want to support. With skylake all about ddr4, imo not much boards will support ddr3l. DDR3L is rare on desktops.
