fx 6300 maximum overclock and griphics card

Those are the only times you'd use an FX 6300 (and the only times I'd even think of recommending them-AM3+ CPU's are all quite old). However the OP actually mentions gaming as the main purpose so the i3 the best choice. (And honestly, I know English might not be your first language, but you really need to brush up on your reading skills as you completely missed what the OP was using the rig for-as a 750/850 pound budget gaming rig).

I was refering to FC4 indeed, and according to a couple of benchmarks that Luke did.

In which he said FC4 did not run a core i3, which was exaly funny.

 

But i suppose they allready fixed that then.

It has always worked on an i3. If luke said it didn't, he was misinformed.

it is however an unlock hex core processer that can hit 5ghz and is only £70, the next i5 is about £120 so it suits me a lot better for the money and I can get a better grapics card and spend less money on the pc and more on the games

Funny to see the FX6300 trading blows in ARMA 3, which is realy suprising i have to say.

 

But this video exaly, tells the same story as i was telling.

The gpu is the limited factor anyways.

My view is this if you want a cheap CPU and it needs to beat i3 or Pentium and you have no plans for upgrades in a while then AMD is a better option! 

FX-6300 beats the i3 just barely in mainstream games but maybe not in indie games which is poorly optimized and use 1 or 2 cores... :D (in the end it depends on the games!) Also in some cases the FX-6350 is same as FX-8350 when the game only uses 4 cores so a GTX 970 is what I would be max but I feel that GTX 960 or R9 380 is max for FX-4300 & FX-6300. (Also there is R9 280 & 280X!) :P Also DX12 is in favor of FX-6300 over i3...

here you are... keep in mind that the i3 is not overclockable and the fx is. 

The video maker is a little bit a intel fanboy so expect amd there slightly better... but i think he does good comparisons...

yeah, that's exaly when i realised that this video is pure BS.

i used to play arma 3 with 4.6ghz FX8320 and Gtx780 i was getting nowhere near those framerates he gets with his fx6300 regardless of the settings i was using i was getting anywhere from 15 to 35fps...40 while looking at the freaking sky.  100% cpu bound, pinned on core 1, gpu loads EXTREMELY low... :(

they were at around 50c under load i no longer have that cpu as it was a massive bottleneck to my gtx780, i had to perform an early platform upgrade only 2 months after getting the amd, once i realised i was not getting anywhere the performance i should ive been getting out of my gpu...everything is much better now, amd fx cpu's are very poor cpu's when it comes to gaming.

That's not 100% true... fx cpu's are very poor paired with really high end gpus  like the 780... 150$ cpu with a 500 or 600% gpu...

fx cpu's are beast with a r9 270 or 280 at max higher they begin to be "crappy"

yes, they are low-end cpu out of the box and can be stretched to mid-range with a strong overclock which require a more expensive 8 phase board like the ud3p i was using and a good cpu cooler...which will end-up costing more than say an i5-4460 and a B85 board which slap bitch an overclocked FX in EVERY games out there, and it does so while consuming less than HALF the energy...the i5is also on a modern socket with modern features, am3+ does not even feature pcie 3.0...that says a lot.

i5 4460 is better than the fx 6300 that's a fact and a fact is also that the fx 6300 is better than the i3...

nah b85 board doesn't work well with an i5 and a b85 motherboard is worse than a am3+ motherboard...

fx 6300 + decent mobo:  170$ = i5 4460 without motherboard...     that's why the i5 4460 is better in the majority of games.

The core i3-4160 for example is a 100$ CPU and it does perform better than the FX-6300 in MOST games, there are SOME games who benefit from more than 4 CPU threads but they are mostly modern very recent AAA games for the most part. If you play those you will be better with the FX but at the same time you will most likely also want a very powerful GPU solution like a GTX 970 or an R9 290X or something you know...and AGAIN you will see the FX just fall flat.

3- it's obvious that you're just here to be a great cheerleader for AMD in their attempt to keep selling these past age CPU's to the mass...i can't blame you i did exactly that when i first came into these forums...also obvious is that you don't know anything about intel...the B85 motherboard are perfect for gamers when paired with locked CPU, because they are the cheapest fully featured socket...it has everything and anything you need as a gamer except support for dual GPU setups...anything else it has and they work flawleslly with core i5-4460 or i5-4590 CPU's for example, making the kit of choice for the average gamer builder out there on a specific budget...pair that i5-4460 with a GTX 970 and you have a killer gaming combo for 1080p gaming.

I like the fx 6300 because that's my budget... an fx 6300 with a r9 380 is a good combo for a 650$ build... i can't spend more... and good luck finding a build that has an i5 and a r9 380 on a 650$ budget... It's the only choice in the 650$ without sacrificing on the gpu..

Lol I got my fx 6300 can still handle in games but I really don't recommend it, the only reason why I went with it was to have a last amd system before they go away :( and I got the fx 6300 for $35 and I already had an am3+ mobo so why not

The max I hit on overclock was 5.2 and stable constant was 4.8 but it's at stock right now because of summer temps in my place

I would really recommend to start with a h97 board or g3258/i3 but if your that limited with budget an fx 6300 is great but it's an older architecture that should really be gone by now since it's 5+ years old now and in the tech world that's not a good thing

Edit: I borrowed a 980 for some rendering I had to do and well I also played games with it so yea if you want a decent gpu to go with it nothing high, but you can always get a 290/280x for cheap

That's BS. I have an fx6300 and an r9 280x. Maxes almost every game I play except planet side 2. The fx6300 is a great mid range CPU.

I refuse to read threads whose author does not know how to remove the caps lock!

1. You used sense and actually got a gpu that isn't bottlenecked heavily

2. It actually isn't good for gaming due to how weak its modules are (2 ALU per module doesn't make it a hex core-AMD is being very misleading with it).

1) I researched before I bought. I have 3 kids and a mortgage. I can't spend money on a whim lol

No its not, unlike the FX 6300 the i3 has far less troubles with GPU past the 960/R9 280X

 

Which is why people are recommending he pair it with a 960 and 280x where both CPU's can fully utilize the GPU...
