they do i remember they use 850 pros for it

They used to host it themselves, they don't anymore. They use CloudFlare or something now.

I was wondering. How is this forum up if they are moving now. @LinusTech

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

Because when it goes down, it redirects you to CloudFlare. It was just too much work to host it themselves.

The server has been hosted externally for a year+. They do occasionally change who it's hosted with, but they don't host it themselves

They sent the SSD's to the server hosts in the USA. It's in the code of conduct.

the couldfare is just ddos protection, the "always online" feature and a cdn. 

I asked Luke a while ago, and he said they use a dedicated solution from OVH

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. OVH. Surprised they'd let them do a hardware swap though, customer support is basically non-existent. I lodged a support ticket... Once... Like 5 months ago... I'm sure they'll get around to it.

Ah damn well I am looking for hosting for heavier traffic soon, and I've been worried about that. I've never had good experiences with a lot of hosting companies. I was glancing at ovh myself.

I think it's pretty good money wise, my server comes with SPLA licenses for Windows server 2012, a whole bunch of enterprise Linux OS', SQL Server licences, Plesk/Cpanel licences if you want to use those. The CPanel is actually a full WHM license which is pretty cool. But yeah, security and server configuration is entirely down to you. So you have to be comfortable working in Linux and figuring stuff out on your own, their help manuals should basically not exist. They're worse than not having them at all because they have the entirely wrong information, wasting your time. And as mentioned above, no support. But yeah, if you know your way around a Linux machine, super cheap for what you get. That's why firepoll.co is basically the only non-squarespace hosted private site to not got down with WAN traffic :P

Amazon EC2 FTW for hosting if you know how to set up shiz yourself. Plus you get a year of the t2.micro instance for free when you first sign up :D

All dedicated now, since Linus threw a USB drive into the server and disconnected a SATA drive when they were hosting it....
