thanks aslo how much improvement would the 390 have over the 970 in an extremely modded skyrim?

That's pretty hard to say, since different users mod Skyrim differently. If you take for example my case. There may or may not be a performance increase in 1080p.

But jumping to 1440p and above the 8GB vram will come in handy with stuttering issues from running out of vram. Not that these cards will be able to output more than

30fps. But atleast the stuttering won't be bothering me that much. 4K environment textures, 8K armours/weapons, 8K skin textures, 4K dragon textures + Power hungry ENB with crazy AA. Need I say more?

We are talking about gaming here. With workloads that needs lots of core the 9590 is better, not by as much as you would think but it is, but gaming doesn't need alot of cores, an i3 4160 with it's 2 hyperthreaded cores with usually beat a 9590 with it's 8 slow cores

Well I have an Athlon X4 860K at 4.2GHz with a Sapphire R9 270 at 1025MHz and I am more than happy with it.

And this is relevant how.... Also a Pentium G3258 will crush a X4 860K

The reason I brought that up is because you said earlier that AMD processors were not good for gaming.

Compared to the Intel CPU of the same price they aren't

It would cost more to oc a P k than buying a i3 and a 860K.

Actually you should get an aftermarket cooler for the Athlon because the stock cooler let the processor run hot and was loud.

That's not the point.

My point is that @ANewFace posted a BS video as the G3258 is completely based on silicon lottery for it's performance.

A i3 would beat a OC'd P K when it would be cheaper, and with the 860K too(just cheaper). The 860K will perform way better than a OC'd PK in Multi threaded.

Note that not very PK can reach 4.5GHZ or higher, you have to be lucky.

I've seen nearly every one hit 4.4 or 4.5. It's 4.8 you have to be luck for.  I did get lucky, as I can reach 4.5 on stock cooling without massive voltage or temps.  That's why I said I won the lottery. :)

What we should instead encourage in this forum is to dissect any company's flaws, good attributes, and performance for it's products regardless of brand.

Any game will start on the Pentium if you know what you are doing

The G3258 shouldn't be considered as anything but a toy for overclockers, not as a gaming CPU. Even as the center of an HTPC would be wasteful since you can get a locked Pentium for cheaper and it won't make a hell of a difference for those tasks.

Forget the fact that some games don't start on a dual core, most people don't want to go into game files and change parameters so a game that wasn't designed to work on a product will now magically work. It's more effort than it's worth for the sole fact that dual core CPUs are going out the door outside of regular desktop use and HTPCs. Gaming is begging for more cores nowadays, and suggesting a Pentium for gaming is just dumb. Get an i3 minimum for a rig with a dGPU and if you're under the $500 price point get an APU or scavenge for used parts at a solid price. The stuttering and hitching in any game that uses more than 2 cores isn't worth saving the $40-$50 by not going i3. And yes, there IS stuttering and frame drops even on my 4.8GHz G3258 which is why it's getting replaced ASAP.

I'll end this post like I started it: The G3258 is a toy. Not a proper gaming CPU*.

No that's a modest OC for the PK, that's if you are unlucky. I've seen people get them to 5ghz. But most can get around 4.7ghz
