USB as page files?

Tim Drake

I can't imagine it being healthy for the USB drive. Plus it would be real slow, wouldn't it?

Any reason you want to move it externally?

My USB has 90mBps so it is anything but slow :P

Just some games seem to benefit from faster paging files but I recently sold and SSD so..

I would advise against it. USB's flash isn't nearly as reliable as an SSD.

You only have 1 harddrive?

The access time for USB is very slow.

If you are all about speed then get a 16 GB RAM kit and disable the page file

USB will most likely wear out pretty quick...

Using the pendrive as a page file would likely reduce its lifetime, as its rated for on and off use, like copying stuff and leaving it for a while, rather than constant usage.

USB flashdrives and the USB interface have high latency and low random performance. Even if your one can handel big files well, it will fail with lots of smal ones. You may it it.

Also the flash used isn't made for a lot of cycels an will waer out quickly.
