I recently sold an H100i GTX to a guy on the forums, he asked if it had compatibility with AM3, which it does. (Clearly says on the website that it does as well)

I included EVERY accessory, and the manuals as well.   He can't figure out how to get it mounted, and apparently says to get it mounted he'd have to "remove a fan I need and adjust some wires which I really don't want to do."

He now wants a full refund and to return it to me, even though everything I sent him is in working condition AND has ALL accessories included, and is compatible with his CPU + board.

The only thing I messed up on was sending him an empty tube of thermal paste, I told him I'd send him a tube that actually has some in it, I didn't realize it was empty. (even though it doesn't even come with any in the first place)

What do I do?  (Also I am in no way trying to flame him or anything, I just want legitimate answers on what to do.)

If you think you did him right, then fine.  Its all about if you can sleep at night.

It sounds like he doesnt want to remove his current heatsink and fan.  Maybe he bit off more than he could chew.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

User error. Why should you accept a return of something that was sold and is fully operational because he doesn't know how to install it. Roflmao

Tell him to sell it, there's nothing wrong with what you sold him, he got exactly what he wanted and its in working condition.

It's not your fault he doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.

You don't want to make the person pissed, cause then they might start a PayPal refund.

I can simply call up paypal and tell them that it's all compatible & in working order though, it's not like they can do anything if I have verified proof that it works on his parts.

Usually PayPal sides with the buyer. It's messed up, but that's how it works.

Do you have any proof you sent everything?

He's claiming it didn't have an AMD backplate, but as far as I know AMD motherboards essentially have that built in don't they?

The fact that the part he said wasn't included doesn't exist would be enough wouldn't it?  I showed him a picture of everything included in the kit, the AMD hold down plate + all the standoffs, fans, etc.  There isn't an AMD backplate because it mounts like this:

Tag him please. I have my popcorn ready.

You should tag him so we can try to help this scrub.

As I said in the OP, I don't want to point fingers or anything at him.  I'm just trying to figure out what I should do ya know?

I feel like none of his problems are actually my fault, except the thermal paste (which it doesn't come with anyways), and I already offered to send him a new tube of paste since I messed up.

You sold an item that wasnt broken and he knew what he was buying, theres no refund beacuse he bought the wrong item or beacuse he is too lazy to do stuff on his computer...

OP

Hi Lays, If I were in your situation I would either do two things:

  1. Tell them "Too bad" since you included all of the parts. This is assuming they are out of the return period.
  2. Tell them they can return it, but not at full cost and they have to pay for return shipping. Your not a retailer, you shouldn't have to pay for others mistakes.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I want to drop this in here

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Asetek-Liquid-Cooler-AMD-Retention-Ring-Kit-/281611096917

Asetek sells mounting kits on their ebay page

This is for the normal asetek based coolers withe the retention teeth, but the backplate that comes with it will work.
