Hi, I have a free upgrade to Windows 10, coming from Windows 7 Pro. If I upgrade through the icon on my task bar, how does this all work?
I feel like having the disc version of W10 would be better, so I can have a fresh start.
Also, how well does Windows 10 work for gaming right now?

It will probably be exactly the same as with win8 to win8.1

You'll simply get an update, download it, install it and restart your computer. Done.

Win10 seems to work really well so far for gaming.

It basically just upgrades the copy of windows, should leave all your programs and files intact. (though if you have programs that are not compatible it might ask you to remove them or something)

Most games will run with newer OS's however they may not run on DX12 however that does not mean that you will not be able to play them, that being said, you click on the little sign, type in your email, and you will be notified on July 29th when Windows 10 is released :)

It will be an upgrade
Currently they havent announced any way of doing a clean install, if it requires your old windows key, or a new one, or whatever

If they dont provide a way to do a clean install, just an upgrade, I will probably just buy a disk copy and then use the my OS for something else

Yes they have. Once you do the upgrade, I think your key is bound to the mobo, then you can just do a clean install with a DVD/USB. But you have to do the upgrade first so MS knows your win7/8 key should now be a win10 key.
