Hey guys! Sorry for the spelling, I am typing this on my phone.

Anyway, I, like most others that are part of the glorious PC Master Race, am hungry for more power. I want to get a pretty big upgrade over my current 760 and just deal with the bottleneck with my FX 6300 until I pick up a 4690K. Here are some criteria I would like to be met:

-The main game I play is BF4. This card has to SHINE like my Ducky keyboard in this game.

-I don't even want to drop below 60 FPS at 1080p. My GTX 760 gets 70-80 average on BF4 maxed out, but the frame drops are very noticeable.

-I know my 400W PSU is not going to cut it, so include a new one in the budget of about $500.

-I can probably flex the budget a little, but a 980 Ti or Fury X is out of the question.

So the most important thing is not dropping below 60 FPS in almost all games at 1080p. Don't bug me about my FX 6300 and how it's a bottleneck. I know, I will pick up a 4690K. Right now I'm thinking of either a GTX 970 or finding a used GTX 980.

Frame drops happen because of your cpu, just sayin.

Doesn't a GTX 970 perform better at 1080p than a 390X? And I don't think I need a 750W PSU. A little overkill isn't it?

I wouldn't say so, and it may be overkill at the moment but what happens if another time comes when you need to upgrade but need 750W? Just planning ahead.

I know you don't want me to say this but YOLO xD the 760 is still a very good card. I currently own a 270 wich is just bellow it and can run Battlefiled 4 60fps but guess what? Frame drops. My PC runs with 2008 shitty processor (It was a beast back then... not anymore). So, my opinion is spend the 500$ in the 4690k+Mobo and maybe a good cooler for OC. The frame drops will fly away with your bullets... :D

That is true. Would a GTX 980 be better? I can probably find one for $450 or something.

So you're saying a new board and better processor will increase my framerate instead of upgrading the GPU first? Since I have a budget of $500 would a 4790K or 5820K be the way to go?

If you go with a 5820k then you'll have to get new RAM DDR4 too so that'd kinda suck. So i'd be like 200 extra for cpu+ mobo over i5 at microcetner and another 170 for ram. So almost 400 dollar premium. You'd be better off just putting that extra money in a 980 Ti IMO.

With that said I am happy with my 5820k but then again I built my PC from scratch and the 980 Ti wasn't out yet.

well the better processor wont get you much better fps but will get rid of the frame drops

So you have a budget of 500$ for a new graphics card for BF4 at 1080P and a new PSU.

if so.

So I have a plan, now. I will get a new board, a 4690K, and a new PSU. I can then sell the FX 6300, stock cooler, motherboard, and GTX 760 and use that money to buy or trade for a (insert card here). I'd prefer Nvidia, but the 390X is no slouch, either.

Guys, I already have a Seidon 120V, and the board has to be mATX. I'll figure that out myself, but let me know how much I should sell the CPU/mobo/card combo for and what card I should get.

For 1080p/1440p/pretty much anything the 390X beats the 970. And come on man, help the poor. #SaveAMD

Hey, I saved their ass by buying an FX 6300, lol. Here is waht I have for the CPU/mobo/PSU combo.

4690K (duh)

AsRock Fatal1ty Z97M Killer (micro ATX for my N200, but I'm not a huge fan of how much red there is, so...)

EVGA SuperNova NEX 750W Gold (my EVGA PSU is pretty nice, so why not get another one?)

Then sell my old AsRock 970M Pro3, FX 6300 w/ stock cooler, and GTX 760 for how much and buy what card?

Edit: Changed to a Z97M-Plus from ASUS. Liking the subtle color scheme a bit better.

I see you are in Texas and Texas has Microcenter so go there for your cpu/mobo combo.

As the board has to be mATX get any Z97 as long as it has the features you want and the i5-4690k.

For GPU get a used 980 on eBay or here http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=8

For PSU get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438017&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= and possibly price match it with microcetner if in stock.  The G2 is better than the NEX.

You can probably get 300/350 for those.

As for the GPU you get the final call, I would go with the 390X.

Having a bad time chossing? Throw a coin xD If you fell any disagree with what the coin chooses then that's your card there. Let your mind solve itself.

Ha, good idea. I really want a GTX 980, maybe I can find one. If not a 390X will do. I don't want to be like everyone and their mom with a 4690K and a GTX 970 (literally all of my friend's systems are like this). Thanks for the help!

http://www.microcenter.com/product/434177/Core_i5-4690K_35GHz_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor

it's 20 dollars cheaper for the CPU at microcetner and they'll give you another 40? off when you combo it with a mobo.

Also a used 980 is about the same cost as a new 390X (or possible cheaper cuz of tax) and once'd OC'd the 980 is much better.
