Still not sure which PSU I should use

Dabombinable

I'm finding it difficult to choose between which one of my 400W PSU I should use in my legacy rig. The specs are:

  • 2x Pentium III EB1000 (at 1162.5MHz)
  • 4x PC133 SDRAM (155MHz FSB, RAM unlinked from CPU FSB)
  • Abit VP6
  • Geforce FX5500 256MB, Geforce 6200 512MB or Riva TNT2
  • 2x CD WR RW drives
  • 1x Samsung Spinpoint 20GB 5400RPM
  • 1xFDD
  • Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live
  • 5 port USB 2.0 PCI card
  • Intel 100 Pro PCI ethernet card
  • Ceramica 80mm ceramic bearing fan

And the PSU:

NAS (not the NSA :P )

NAS Switching Power Supply

Model: ATX-400W

+3.3V, 12A= 39.6W
+5V, 16A=80W
+12V, 14A=168W
+5VSB, 2A=10W

Max: 120W for 3.3V & 5V DC output
Max: 250W for +3.3V+5V & +12V DC output combination
Max: 400W for total combination

Bought around 2003/2004, checked and tested in the 2008 financial year, still capable of outputting up to 400W.

Thermaltake

Thermaltake "500W" Power Supply
Model: TT-500NL1NH-1

+3.3V, 25A=82.5W
+5V, 28A=140W
+12V1, 14A=168W
+12V2, 15A=180W
+5vsb, 2A= 10W

The combined power of +5V and +3.3V is 130W max
Total combined +12V output load not exceed 23A
Total output power: 400W Peak output power: 500W

Came with my Thermaltake Commander MS-I at the start of last year, PSU is always warm when plugged in, especially in my Dual Pentium III EB 1000 VP6 rig.

Well neither is really all that good and I can't even find NAS as a brand on my "who OEMs for who" list which is usually a bad sign....

Of those two I guess the Thermalfake but I wouldn't expect it to last more than 5 years.

The NAS PSU is quite old, the ATX connectors are almost an afterthought on it alongside the single sata plug. As for the Thermaltake, I'm not expecting it to last long anyway.

The Thermaltake came with a $50 case so i understand, but the NAS cost a lot brand new and is actually enterprise grade (odd for a 400W I know).
