I'm guessing the C sku is not unlocked. I didn't even know that Intel was dropping any Broadwell CPUs for desktops since Skylake (some Skylake stuff might even be coming this summer or fall) is due by early to mid 2016 (which I'm guessing Broadwell-E or Skylake-E will be available by mid 2016).

Hard to do without having had hands on experience yet but I doubt its very different from a 4690k. Watch a few videos on oc'ing Haswell and that should get you started.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. TweakTown is the only one I could find who has done a small OC test on the Broadwell's. I would assume Aandtech and others will be releasing their full reviews shortly.

If you have an engineering sample it's likely to be hit or miss OCing. If you have a valid retail release make sure to post your results up here, people will definitely be interested. :D

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9320/intel-broadwell-review-i7-5775c-i5-5675c

Anandtech had "part 1" of their Broadwell review up ages ago, but part 2 has been conspicuously absent for a long time. Presumably overclocking is being saved for that half.

The generic answer to the OP is that every chip is different and we cannot give you settings. You're going to have to experiment and run stability tests to get the best results for your hardware.

ram 4 x 2 gb corsair 1600mhz 1.65v

That works? The reviews say Broadwell needs 1.35 V DDR3L, although most of them are running 1.5 V DDR3. I'd be somewhat concerned about 1.65 V DDR3.

'Legit Reviews' got a change to review the i7-5775C. From the looks of it, you need a lot of voltage to bring it up to the 4.4GHz+ range. I mean signitcantly more...to the level you are stepping into the AMD voltage levels. At that point, your 65W TDP is no longer exists.

http://www.legitreviews.com/intel-core-i7-5775c-broadwell-processor-review_166875

To hit 4.2 GHz we had to increase the voltage to 1.3V and then to hit 4.3GHz we had to increase it again to 1.35V.

We later learned that you can put more voltage to the processor without blowing it up right away and was able to get 4.4GHz stable at 1.475V.

<p>

Intel Core i7-5775 Overclocking Expectations:

  • 4.1 GHz – 1.225V
  • 4.2 GHz – 1.3V
  • 4.3 GHz – 1.35V
  • 4.4 GHz – 1.475V
  • 4.6 GHz and beyond – 1.6V (not recommended for normal use)

All that efficiency is thrown out the window with the overclock though and our idle power increased to 34.6W and at load we were now hitting 119 Watts, which is similar to a Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core processor with default settings.

With their review sample, they had to overclock the i7-5775C to 4.2GHz / 4.3GHz to match what the CPU performance of i7-4790K at stock. The power draw becomes similar anyways when you overclock the chip.

Umm.... wat? Am I missing out on something?

Where did you get this CPU? Was it in a pre-built? This CPU is not for sale yet on retail markets, unless its from one of those HP pre-builts that i've heard about.

Why would Intel drop the K sku?

Just mixing up the naming scheme for Broadwell. From what we've seen it'll be back for Skylake.

Why would Intel drop the K sku?

The C is believed to stand for Crystalwell.

The 128 MB of eDRAM is on the same package as the CPU, but in a separate die manufactured in a different process. Intel refers to this as a Level 4 cache that is available to both CPU and GPU, naming it Crystalwell.

The 5675C and 5775C are going to be the only Broadwell CPU's aimed at desktop, so they are also the only two broadwell CPU's that also has crystalwell graphics. The C would then make sense.

That being said, this theory is not concrete. There were 3 other Crystalwell based iGPU's released under Haswell. However, they were mostly used in integrated systems like the Zotac Z-boxes, and not capable of fitting in a standard desktop motherboard.

So yeah, that's how i see it. I just pretend the C stands for Crystalwell, and it makes me feel at ease. Since Intel never did tell us what the K stood for, i like to assume it stands for "Kore unlocked" or " Kan overclock it", lol.

here are some broadwell i7 overclock results

i understand there are like 2 people that made submissions but there is quite a bit of info if you look at each submission. the imc is possibly inferior to haswell....but that dont make any sense at all

@akiasmaka try VCCIN to 1.9-1.95v, vcore 1.25v. You may also need to update the BIOS.
