Please help.. GTA 5 fps drops..

Alright guys so my spec is:

GTX 980

i5 3570k

16GB 1600mhz ram

So i'm getting drops when driving in this game, everything was set to high, then everything was set to normal, still have the same issue? afterburner says all cores are nearly maxed yet i haven't read anywhere else that this game maxes all cores at just normal settings, on this cpu? weird? any tips?

Turn off extended draw distance and high detailed shadows in the advanced settings.

Is your cpu or gpu overclocked at all?

umm well its a smooth 60 fps on foot but driving it goes to 45fps and back up, 1080p and normal settings for everything, population density and all that 100 percent.

what are you running the game on ? SSD HDD? if HDD how old is it? what's the RPM? your issue is purely a problem with your hard disk not with anything else if the problem only exist while driving. and if this happens mostly in the urban region

Tried again with the cpu overclocked to 4ghz, the framerate is a lil better but on high it still drops like mad to 45-50fps a fair bit in traffic, no ideas, afterburner is showing the cpu is maxed, yet i've spoke to people with 970's on a stock clock who don't have as many drops? also nothing else is running when this is happening, strange

its not you're cpu, yours is more than capable of gta v ultra, your gpu is also more than capable of maxing out at any setting at even 4k (be it closer to 30 fps than 60)

have you got the lastest gpu drivers installed?

and is this a fully patched up to date copy of gta or a pirated version??

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

close gta and open nvidia experience and allow it to auto detect and set your settings, and then try and play it.

I was getting inconsistency so I let nvidia choose my setting and it was flawless. be it at the time I had a gtx 770.

with a core i5 2500k and a 980ti I get a stable 60fps at 4k with all ultra settings and no advanced setting turned on. shadows I have set to soft.

you'd obviously get a somewhat similar experience with a 980.

Ok guys thanks a lot, so i've just set the priority for the game to high in task manager, all settings on high and back to stock clocks and the fps seems pretty solid, it can still drop to say 58fps but i guess thats normal, but anymore issues then yeh i'll do a fresh driver install or use nvidia experience :) thanks so much

so i turned off v sync and i was getting 100 fps at ultra with all advanced settings on, obviously you get some big fps drops when driving but it seems ok now at very high with advanced settings off :) try setting the priority to high peeps, that definately helps
