Phone not recognized by PC after changing CID

1Scotty1

Hey, folks

yesterday I was fiddling with my HTC One M7 and wanted to flash stock ROM back on it (currently running Google Play edition ROM).

So I started by backing up everything I wanted and proceeded with the re-flashing. First order of business was to change the CID from GOOGL001 to the original... I did that, no problem there, but after I booted into the RUU screen to start flashing the PC started to show "Device not recognized" error. I don't understand why it started all of a sudden but now the phone is not recognized whenever in Fastboot mode (before it worked flawlessly). When it is normally turned on, it is recognized immediately.

I tried reinstalling drivers, but nothing helped. In device manager it shows as "My HTC" with a yellow exclamation mark triangle :(

Any of you guys know what is the problem?

Thanks

I had a similar issue when I first installed Windows. I don't think it's the same thing, because yours happened randomly, but my issue was I had an N version of Windows, and for some reason my M8 needs Windows Media Center installed. Try re-installing Windows Media Center.

If none of the above worked, try using another PC if you have one.

If it still doesn't recognize it, I'm guessing changing the CID may have broken the device's driver ID or whatever it's called.
