thermal compound

Go to solution Solved by Speaker1264,

I dont know if this is the right area to ask for a thermal compound, but i will take my chance.

What is the best thermal compound in those days :) ?

Arctic 5 ? Other ?

H110i

Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme, prolimatech pk-3, and noctua nt-h1 are all really good thermal pastes, unless you wanted to use liquid metal thermal paste then you've got coollaboratory liquid pro and liquid ultra.

yeah, sure. honestly i've tried several compounds before. i just buy the 2oz thing from bestbuy now. it lasts forever.

it's more about the cooler than the compound as long as you don't form bubbles.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I've personally found Tuniq TX-4 to be the best. Temperatures aren't really going to matter no matter the paste (hell, mayonnaise provides similar temps to all the top brands) but I've found Tuniq to hold up the best over time. Arctic Silver turns to clay after a few weeks, whereas the Tuniq has always stayed nice and pliable after time for me.

I like this comparison table, der8auer did the testing, he is one of the best extreme overclockers and really knows his stuff

http://overclocking....nitrogen-ln2/6/

Basically anything under 10ºK is good for performance use, but if you are gonna buy it aftermarket, you may as well for the highest end stuff that has a reasonable price. Personally i use zalman STG2 cause...It was available and cheap and performs great.
