Hey guys!

I've recently taken interest in upcoming games, and as soon as Fallout 4 was announced, i knew i had to change my rig in some way or the other. The problem is, that i've bought the PC back in 2012, and it doesn't perform so well in newer, demanding games like Mortal Kombat X or GTA V (of course...). I live in Denmark, so prices here vary alot from those over in the US, but what i can provide you with, is the specs that my rig has at the moment:

Now, as to my monitor, i use a BenQ 24" 120 Hz monitor. At the moment, i'm only interested in playing in 1080p, but something is tickling inside me when i hear the word "4k"...

As far as a budget goes, i'm open to anything atm, but of course, i'd like to keep my feet on the ground, so i doubt the new rig IF IT IS NEEDED will cost me more than 16.000 DKK ( around ~2400 USD)

The site i'm going to buy my parts from, is the following: https://www.komplett.dk/

Thank you for your time guys!

Upgrade your 690's to 980 Ti's and get some more RAM and you're fully setup :)

And maybe overclock the 4770k.

Sounds good, OP even has a Z77 motherboard :)

@TidalKing, I see no reason why you would need to upgrade. Overclock your 3770K and GTX 690 (don't know how well it overclocks) and it should be good for a while. If you do upgrade anything, get a GTX 980 Ti or something.

Make sure you have adequate cooling for your CPU as well.

Problem is, even though i have the "beasty" 690, it runs like utter shit in newer games even AFTER the Nvidia Dual GPU updates. MKX is unplayable, and even at low settings, it murders the card, and hops around 10 fps. I decided to run 3DMark a month or two ago, and made a reddit post about it:

Well yeah, running Quad SLI scales pretty darn bad on games (as 690 = dual gpu).

Sell those GTX 690's and buy two 980 ti's instead. Will be a much better experience.

That is very surprising.

For a good single card solution, anything ranging from a GTX 970 to GTX 980 Ti will drive 1440p very well. The GTX 980 Ti will be able to drive 1440p for a longer period as games become more graphically demanding. If you have the money, a GTX 980 Ti would definitely be a good investment.

No real need to upgrade anything else, though. That CPU is still very capable, given that you're willing to overclock. You CAN get more RAM if it's required, but if you don't need it, what's the point? I've never used any more than about 6GB at any given time. Although, I'm not a big multi-tasker.

Well, i'll probably go buy myself another monitor for a dualmonitor setup, so i don't know if i'll wait with the 1440p option. Overclocking my 3770k will be a problem doe, since i've had my rig completely rebooted because of some boot problems a few months back, and i wasn't the one that overclocked the system + i've never overclocked a system before. Having to cool the rig down, will be pretty difficult with the cooler i'm running atm, as i've switched out my water cooler for a normal Antec air fan, so i don't know if it can handle an OC'ed chip :S.

A capable air cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO will be able to handle a conservative overclock (given that your case has the space for it).

Overclocking isn't black magic, it can be learnt with a little patience. LTT will probably have a video on overclocking that series of chips.
