New AMD cards

Hey guys, currently I have a 780 oc that I use for my 1080p gaming, but in the future I want to make the leap to 4k, with all the new/rebranded AMD cards and the titan x and 980ti, not sure which best avenue is. The 295x2 was pretty good at 4k and with it being pretty competitive now I'm wondering if it is still a good option. Fury x Ik is supposed to be better than titan x but haven't really seen the numbers. And I know it's a ways out but what about the 1000 series from nvidia? Not really sure what to do. *cards will be fully watercooled*

im most likely going to buy a 295x2 soon, waiting to see if it drops even more in price

Fury X or 980Ti wait 2 days and then decide.

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

The 295x2 is both a good option and not at the same time. It's a good one because of how powerful it is for the given price, but it's a dual GPU setup, which isn't always ideal.

 

Reviews of the R9 Fury will start to come out on the 24th if I remember right, so I would check out that. They claim "60FPS capable at 5k" (I call BS, unless the games are non-demanding ones).

 

Currently the best options from AMD's side when it comes to 4k gaming (not counting Fury) is either a single, or two 290x (which would be the same as the 295x2). And the best option from Nvidia's side is the GTX 980ti.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Yeah I have to wait and see since I don't have the funds for a fury x or 980ti sli plus waterblocks at the moment

im most likely going to buy a 295x2 soon, waiting to see if it drops even more in price

i have a 295x2, it is heating up my room faster then the electric heater cables in the floor at full tilt.... Luckily i live in Norway where its a bit colder, i hope you dont live in a hot place or you WILL regret it.

at 4k, not 5k. And capable is just another way of saying "if the game is optimized for AMD cards". Add a bucketload of tesselation and gameworks stuff and AMD cards take a dump in performance over Nvidia.

 

the Fury and Fury X CAN NOT play 5k games. Even AMDs own sliders showed that 5k was impossible.

Also, single more powerful GPU is always better than two weaker GPUs with comparable performance.

you can quote and highlight all you want, bottom line is you're wrong seeing as AMD didnt even CLAIM 60FPS at 5k. They never made that statement.
