Good CPU for CS:GO?

I know that CS:GO is a CPU based game however what is the recommended CPU for it while using a GeForce GTX 970? I am looking for 250 plus fps.

Why would you want 250+ FPS? There is not even monitor with that refresh rate...

Anyway ... you should get at least i3 but i5 would be better.

It's a massively competitive game. Dropping frames below the refresh rate of your monitor, you can feel it. I can feel the difference between 120FPS and 100 in CS:GO, but between 250 and 300, you cant.

Lower input latency/better feel, if you played osu! or a Source game competitively you'd know what I'm talking about.

It's not actually 240hz.

How so? Is it just simulated more Hz? (Like what TVs do)

That's exactly it, I'll find the monitor that does it if you like.

I do believe so. At least, that's what I get from the description on Eizo's site.

Ultra Smooth Gaming with Turbo 240

Experience fluid gameplay free from motion blur with the gaming  industry’s first 240 Hz monitor. EIZO’s Turbo 240 converts 120 Hz input signals to 240 Hz for a refresh rate double that of conventional gaming monitors so you can enjoy the smoothest motion display yet for first-person shooter, racing, and other fast-action genres.

That too, but also some of the physics, like bunny hop puzzles can become impossible when the frames drop below 120.

because of drops. cs:go has terrible fps drops. also for 128tick servers you need 128fps+ for perfect sync.

Its always better to have as high fps you can get since it is smoother even if you only got a 60 or 144Hz monitor. And if you get dips you maybe only dip to 150 instead of 30 fps.

And for the CPU an i5 4670K would be great. (pretty much anything works I get 250 fps on 1080p with a FX-8350 and a GTX 760)

my friend run this fine with E5200, 2GB + HD 5570

Not on 200fps and surely not maxed out.

But yea, CS:GO can be run on many systems, just not all can handle 60+ fps.
