Doom 4 announced for 2016

Doom, or Doom 4, depending on how you want to look at it, was shown off in all its first person, Mars station exploring, demon hunting glory this weekend at the E3 conference in Los Angeles. The reveal not only showcased a game that is far prettier than its predecessors, but much more violent and bloody too. Perhaps it’s taken some inspiration from the “Brutal” modification of its ancient ancestor?

While the gunfire is itself rather damaging to flesh and bone, it’s the melee attacks that really send home the message that the new Doom isn’t messing around. Heads are crushed, hearts are pulled from chests and demons are exploded in patterns of gore that look like they would make fantastic rorschach cards for the counselling that our dear super soldier is going to need after this hellish crusade.

 

One of the more interesting aspects of the game too, is the echo device, which acts like a holographic version of the audio logs often found in first person games, which help flesh out the backstory. In this, players are able to rewatch the past, through augmented reacreations, right in front of their eyes. It can not only hint about where more demons – that are ripe for slaying – may be, but can send you off down paths that help further the game.

 

Even for the singler player experience on show though, the gameplay is fast, hinting perhaps of a return to multiplayer prominence for the series too.

I'm excited for it! Love arena shooters and gameplay pace of it, also modding and that snapmap tool for creating custom gametypes etc looks awesome!

Multiplayer also looks promising really and I'd like it to really shine! Can't wait!

looked fast for a controller, but too slow for M+K, if it's going to be as it looked there then I would like to see them (or modders) to enable tweaks to 

• half enemy health,
• increase enemy count by at least 4-5 times,
• make a few rooms where there are at least 20-30 enemies
• place them more vertically as well, cause even on the hell map he didn't face more than 3 enemies at once, and
• don't leave empty corridors just to walk on for minutes, fill them with enemies,
• greatly increase movement speed,
• double reload speed,
• shorten chainsaw and melee animations to under a sec,
• and ditch the regen on kill thing for higher difficulties

You also have to remember this wont be how the game will be laid out. That 7 min section was a little bit done too show off. You wont actually get it off this easy or get so many guns so quickly.

during the aftershow questions with adam sessler the id software guy said that the hell part was about halfway through, and I based my opinion of off that and not the first intro part

the game looks great graphics wise !

but i dont know if i should be happy or sad

doom 1 and 2 felt more arcady and "i dont give a damn" attitude from the main charecter

while doom 3 feels more like a story driven game with more of an in depth story line and slower gameplay + sidenote : i loved that there was a mouse cursor when using an interface in game ) but looks like they removed it

 

this game feels like it went back to its roots which has its ups and downs

really wanted a Doom 3 successor  though

It looks like the most generic a generic shooter could possibly look, it looks like the kind of game that would be on a TV show if people were playing 'video games' in the background. It looks like a QTE-fest and theres like a max of 3 enemies on screen at any given time.

Did you even watch the gameplay? Theres not a single thing appealing about it, it's slow, linear, QTE based, the environments are uninspired etc.

Let me say this. It will be bad. Only based on the fact there's no way in hell they can live up to the old game. Same thing happened to duke nukem. All though that was in development for like 10 years. I just dont think it'll be good. Judging from the trailer it doesnt look all that good
