So , I have to questions about CPUs : Is the I5 series getting outdated when it comes to gaming ? And 2nd question : Which is the better CPU for gaming the I5-4460 or the I5 4690K ( I am not going to overclock the CPU when I buy one , and I gotta point out that the price difference between those 2 is pretty significant here )

2. 4690K. Even on stock (but not that much, so see if that justifies the higher cost for you)

The i5 is perfect for gaming, it's not outdated at all, also if you want a budget choice for no overclocking go for this combo. i5 4440+ Msi h81m-p33.

Well I plan to buy a 4460 and pair it with  GTX 970/R9 290X (See if the prices drop ) all on H87 or H97 Anniversary Mbo , that's why I asked the 2nd question .

2: The main difference is the fact that 4690K is unlocked and thus easy to overclock. If you aren't overclocking, no better option than 4460 in terms of price/performance for i5s

There is only a 1 dollar difference in price here between the 4440 and 4460 (The 4460 is on sale so that's why )

They are the same proccesor, thing is that if you go for a 4460 and the msi p33 for example you have a high chance of having to update the BIOS which can't be done without having a Haswell CPU(4440 in this case). Thing is that if you go for the 4440 it allows you to cheap out on the motherboard while if you go for the 4460 you would need an h97 chipset motherboard which is more expensive than h81 motherboards.

Well I don't like the H81-p33 since it has only 2 ram slots , which I really really hate .

Why not get the 4690? If you are not gonna OC then just get a non-K!

No it most certainly is not getting outdated!

And of those two, the 4690k is more powerful. It's not THAT much more powerful though.

if you won't overclock you can also get the 4690, it's basically the same as the 4690k but without overclocking support. so at stock it will perform the same and it will save you a few bucks
