Does temperature affect gaming on a PC?

Hello,

I am just wondering if temperature at all affects FPS. I have so many fans it is rediculous and I am just asking myself if it was a waste of money to spend so much to get a cooler PC if it doesn't affect gaming.

It depends. You can overclock higher, but it won't naturally perform much better. There is GPU boost 2.0 and intel turbo boost, but those won't do anything significant. Also, if it is cooled extremely badly, then it will throttle, killing performance.

It's only going to have an effect if the temperature exceeds the point at which the CPU/GPU begins to throttle (Probably around 90C for Intel).

 

If your cooling system is half-decent, you shouldn't even approach these temperatures (stock cooler is fine for no overclock).

Basically the cooler a part is, the longer it's lifespan will be. I think some graphics cards can perform better the cooler they are.

Only if your temps reach higher range and thermal throttling kicks in.
