I would get the m50x and the modmic. You could use it without the mic while in a car or something. You would look weird wearing a headset with a mic while outside.

Going through the youtube reviews on ATH-ADG1.

I already have M50x, do you guys think its a worthy upgrade? Would AKG 7XX from Massdrop been better? The drop usually come around $200.00 time to time.

Or is the ATH-ADG1 115.00 price tag  is too good to pass?

It will definitely have a better soundstage than the m50x, as it is an open headphone.

Therefore it´s great for positional audio (shooters etc.) or just for the feeling of more immersion in the game.

From the sound quality other than the soundstage: the usual bass drawback of open headphones compared to closed ones etc. - haven´t tried both of them, therefore no further comparison.

I have a pair of closed headphones and a pair of open ones at home - open for quiet rooms as open headphones are just more pleasant for me, and the closed ones for bus, plane and so on.
