I think that this rumor keeps returning every 6 months and is just as annoying each time.

If you want real answers look up some of the other thousand posts made on the topic.

I like your in-depth thoughts on this topic. Samsung acquiring AMD could give them a surge of funding, but ultimately it wouldn't give AMD back the market share they used to have on GPUs. (It's always been about 45-55%, but never this low.) They might be able ot step up their game a little bit with CPUs, but Intel is just doing so good with their work, they would be hard-pressed to top anything they do.

TL;DR Samsung acquiring AMD wouldn't change anything in the long-run.

AMD.

Drop your high end CPU's.

Make budget CPU's.

Keep making GPU's.

Otherwise Nvidia would raise prices.

I just fixed AMD's future in 5 sentences.

Why can't they do it themselves.

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

They have been doing that for the past 7 years lol, what's changed?  Their negatively increasing market share.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

It would definitely be costly, considering AMD pulls in what, 5B per year in revenue?... more than Nvidia in some years. AMD just pump everything they make back into the company, and debt. On paper it looks worse than it probably is.

I've heard this rumor for years though. I think its more that consumers want to see it happen, and less of any truth to it. Samsung are constantly doing deals with AMD, trading tech and buying licenses. They are also 2 big heavy hitters on the HSA foundation.

What do you guys think?

AMD has IP that could be improved with a bump in investment by samsung, and a name that people honestly want to be competitive again. samsung has fabs on a small scale that might be able to compete with intel.

it could be a promising merger, and we might even see some x86-64 processors from samsung out of this.

Good if it happens, AMD needs some sense knocked in to them.

Actually it would be bad. Amd would lose the cross licence with intel.

And some financial horsepower. Not only does AMD need sense knocking into them but Intel need knocking down a little and bring in some worthwhile improvements.

if it happens amd won't be able to produce x86 cpus anymore, so no, it would be terrible. intel would get a monopoly (fx series or not, amd is still by far the most experienced cpu producer after intel, especially with x86).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
