So the 980ti is?

If it turns out to be a slightly cutdown Titan X like it seems, then yeah IMO it'd be worth it.

You could overclock it a bit and have a Titan X for like $250 less.

I plan on selling my 780 TI Classified and buying a 980 TI Classified when EVGA makes one.

Other places are saying it's going to be closer to 750$, not sure what to believe.

I feel like $649 is way to close to 980 pricing, 750 makes more sense imo

@Lays They'll strip it down to make sure it cant get close to the Titan X, I guarantee especially on the 4K side of things.  I'd also say $750- $790.

After the 980ti is released I see no reason to purchase a Titan X if you are just gaming.

I plan on changing out my 780's for 2 980ti's

They don't need to though, if they release the 980 TI at $750, they can keep all their pricing where it already is until AMD does something.

It was selling for more on amazon..

Probably because it was selling out everywhere, if amazon still had stock they most likely would of raised the price to make more profit since nobody else had stock.

When I first read the 980ti might be 650.00 I thought yeah that's pricey, but might make some sense for some people, but 800 is just another example of price gouging from Nvidia, same as the Titan X.

If this were some revolutionary 16nm card that enabled people to run 4k on ultra with 60fps in all games with one card I can see justifying that price, but its just a stopgap card before the real next gen big guns are released next year, so who wants to blow 800 plus tax for that?

Nvidia seems to have a method to their pricing madness. Condition people for high prices by charging some outrageous price for a Titan card, then when the next lower tier card comes out for a little cheaper it wont seem as insanely high as it would have had you already not seen an even more insanely expensive card released earlier.

The 980ti will probably be in between $700-$800 IMO. Then you have to figure companies like EVGA will release classified edition that will be even more expensive. GM200 are great overclockers so I can only imagine what it could do on a custom PCB.

The 390x is rumored to be around the same price and they're supposed to be the cheaper alternative, so it's not like there is a better option for cheaper. You can always still buy a 970 for cheap and pwn 1080p. These top of the line cards are for GPU snobs like me that always have to own the best and won't settle for anything less. Hey that rhymes =)

At that price, I would buy a Titan x. $200 more for double the vram for high resolution gaming and mods seems like the better buy.

I'm curious to see how it stacks up against a 390x in 4k gaming. Gonna swap out the 290x's soon for something, but I'm undecided as of now.

I'm looking to upgrade my 780ti's too. 290x's are still very good cards. You might want to consider skipping this generation and wait for a bigger upgrade.

So If the 390x(or FijiXT or whatever its called) winds up being more powerful than the Titan X, and costs about the same as a cut down titan X(the 980 ti) wouldn't it make more sense to buy that?

Except that if the AMD Fiji GPU beats the Titan X, you wont actually BE the boss. ;)
