Cortana is coming to Android end of June, to iPhone later this year...

Joe Belfiore just hit the ball out of the park with his latest windowsblog entry:

Today, we’re announcing a Cortana application for Android phones and for iPhones which works as a companion to Cortana on your Windows 10 PC

after some rumors and following confirmations for the 'companion strategy' we now get the planned schedule...

How and when can I try these out?
Join the Windows Insider Program to try out the Phone Companion app on a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build we’ll flight out in a few weeks. The Cortana companion will be available for Android phones at the end of June and for iPhones later this year. The updated Xbox Music app for Android and iPhone will be available in late June or July of this year, with “beta” functionality to enable streaming of OneDrive music content.

Will it work as good as it works on WP is the real question! :D

a very good question indeed; there will be some limitations relating to the OS systems at start...

no, they said that in the blog but OP skipped almost the whole thing expect that cortana is going multiplatform, essentially it will have most of the feature but since its not integrated in the os, android and ios won't have deep app integration (you can't use cortana to summon an app for a specific task, ie, tell it to reply to a text with specific words, or open this document on excel) and you can't use voice to activate it, the app has to be opened manually, it will be a gimped version and imo those kind of features is what makes it worthwhile, this version will be google now with siri style silliness

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here

indeed i did; i thought about a sidenote with a hint to the limitations, but hoped the 'date factor' would be info-worthy enough and further interest would be nursed by the source link...

...and there is even a bit of hope, that it will not be a 'light' version  forever:

won’t initially be available

...yeah i know, PR speech...

The german Cortana is 99% useless. The only thing she can do is giving you weather information. Even basic things like telling the time is not possible. Every time I try to use her she only starts a Bing search. She still needs time and I think they should wait with releasing her on other platforms.

valid objection, the 'stepchild status' of the localized versions is not a secret...

Even if this version of Cortana is pretty much useless (all the useful things removed) it's still nice to see Microsoft be more friendly towards other platforms.

It's weird that Microsoft are now even more cross-platform friendly than Google when they have done flat out illegal things to the past to hinder compatibility with competing products.

I think they will have it where you can use any search engine, not 100% sure though.

Bing is the superior porn engine. That's a fact.

Then Cortana should be a sex doll. And u should be able to tell her what race or a specific person/pornstar it should interpret during intercorse lol.

Billion dollar idea :D

Posible. But since its MS's search engine i think they gonna try to prioritise that.

I do. Proudly. Haha. The image search functionality alone is so much superior to Google, at least in my type of work (architecture stuffs).

seems like a fabulous soap to me ^^ ...both, ms and apple turning 180 degree hard, and google is like the child in the candystore; never gonna give the lollipop back...
