Oculus Sends Out Invites For Special Rift Event June 11

Oculus is sending out invites to a special press event that takes place on June 11 in San Francisco. Maybe Linus even received one himself as well, if so welp everyone get ready for a coverage video of some sort. 

 

The picture above seems to have a design that features built in headphones, which Oculus have said in the past that they plan on having that integrated in the consumer version of the product. They have said that pre-orders will begin "commencing later in 2015" which is pretty early yet so far away. With that in mind, the orders would then begin shipping during the first half of next year. There hasn't been much information in terms of the pricing of the final product, but maybe we'll find out at this event. 

 

This type of accessory, is that the right term? not sure, but anyways this device would be a great addition to my system well everyone's system in general. I haven't been able to try the rift myself but judging from all the reviews and testing by the lucky people who have one, it does seem tempting to not get one. The problem is that, I myself am not sure justifying the price with what you get. Yes it is quite a leap in advancement, but would the price match how much I would use it? Still there is a possibly that I might have better intentions of buying it in the future, considering I'm in the due-process of contemplating about what I should be doing with my rig. 

 

Edit: Regarding the integrated audio on the rift, the question is "How well do they perform?" Would it be possible to detach and just use normal headphones or even a headset? Because the video and audio experience have to be together, making up the entire experience, using the device to it's utmost ability.

If they do include headphones with the headset, they'd better be removable. It would be a bizarre decision to make them unremovable. Did read today that Oculus has no plans of restricting the content that is developed for the Rift. Namely, Porn. Because let's face it, it's only a matter of time for extensive porn games and videos to come to VR. We enjoy abusing technology sexually.

They said they would be removable when they first showed them on one of their event previews (crystal cove I believe)
