Brain Flash!

Does anyone else think that there should be a Linus Tech Tips magazine published on the forum every month. The writes could be from the forum and the content posts from the forum. Just an idea.

Magazines and monthly media are very quickly dying out, cos people don't have to wait for their magazine in the mail anymore.  Technology moves so fast now that the magazine you received this month, which was written last month, is already outdated by the time you tear open the plastic cover.

This would pretty much just be the WAN show in text format. It's a lot of extra work for no new information IMO.

Not everyone has time to watch 4 WAN shows a month and some people like to read. Linus and Co may not be-able to cover everything as well. But its just an idea and a community project that the forum could work on.

It could be a PDF?

It's still a monthly digest, which means you wait a month to see stuff that was new a month ago, but no longer new, and also widely available everywhere else on the web.  In these days of instant gratification as well as the speed  information spread on the net, anything more than a week old is outdated news, and much more so if it's monthly updates.

He did say "published on the forum". A physical LTT magazine would make no sense.

Having the WAN show on in the background, or downloading the audio versions that are uploaded every week doesn't take much in the way of time compared to reading. If they enjoy reading, they can visit the articles and threads that are linked to in the WAN show, detailing the topics covered. LTT would have to reword, condense and sort through the articles for the magazine, which is an awful lot of work. There's also the issue of the work just not being carried out if it's done as a community thing.

Like I said, it's still gonna be a monthly digest.  Nobody waits a month to find out what happened the month before.  The internet killed magazines that rely on publicly available info like game previews and tech reviews.

Yep, I agree with you. Even on the WAN show, the news is a week or more old, which in the tech world is a fairly long time. I keep up with things as they happen for the most part, but I watch the WAN show to see other's takes on the topics, as well as learning things I may have missed.
