Hello, how are you?

I am wondering about the performance of two reference 780 in SLI.

From what I know, the stock cooler is pretty good as it is still the model with the vapor chamber.

And how about performance?

I currently have a single 290X.

How does the SLI 780 measure up against the 290X?

Would you consider it an upgrade?

Cheers!

-snip-

A 290X performs about as good as a 970 (sometimes a little better or worse) and the 970 is just a bit better than the 780, so you know where 1 780 lies in terms of performance.

(If he game does not heavily prefer Nvidia :P )

So if the game is optimized for SLI, 2 780's might be better than 1 290X.

But not by a whole lot to be honest.. Personally I wouldn't bother with it, unless the 780's are really cheap (as 700 series GPU's can be quite expensive still..)

I'm a bit ill so feeling not too great. Thanks for asking, though :)

SLI 780s will be much better than a 290X on paper. I would just be wary about using it for high resolution things like 4K or surround since it has a GB less vram. It would be fantastic for 1440p 120/144Hz though.

There isn't much difference between the 780 and the 290X. They're both flagships of concurrent generations. The 290X is a little better, but not by a tremendous amount, so SLI 780s will be a vast improvement.

Although if you could Crossfire your current 290X (and do it without heat being a problem) then that would be even better.

"might be?" if it's even remotely optimized 2 780's will walk all over a 290x lol.

I couldn't find any 780 SLI vs. 290X benchmarks so didn't/couldn't say it like I was 100% sure of it..

It would be logical that 780 SLI is better than 290X, but didn't want people yelling "source?!?!?" at me.

Hi,

From what I see, I was under the impression that the 290X is more on par with the 780TI, while the 780 is less powerful than the 290X.

My current monitor is 1440p 60hz.

I am still waiting for a good 1440p 144hz freesync monitor that still isn't in the market.

If I jump on the Nvidia ship, I might get a XB270hu.

Cheers!
