There really isn't anything out these days to educate users about.  Nothing has been released in over 8 months discounting Maxwell.

so he makes a monetized 15 minutes video doing basically nothing other than "trying" to fit a cooler onto that ridicoulus CPU?

Everything is monetized.  If you can't wait for the videos to appear on Youtube, then you should have signed up for the free YEAR of Vessel access.  Or just wait a few days for it to appear on Youtube "free".

I would actually disagree- many people (not including me) are less likely to watch overviews/ reviews on newer products after they assemble their own computers; there will be a new set of viewers. He should continue to educate (even if this winds up making him repeat what he said year after year) the customer; such as what is TDP, breaking down Intel's naming scheme; how to decipher RAM product codes; what is a feature in the nitty gritty; this is what made him standout to me 3-4 years ago when I started watching his content.

Those already exist in the Techquickie channel.  I'd like the main channel to remain as it is, personally.  I do have a complaint about TechQuickie though.  The mic they use is just terrible, and I don't know why they can't sound similar or the same to LTT vids.

It is not about them doing different styles of videos.

I am open for that.

But this video he posted on Vessel is just ridiculous. he shows the CPU and RAM for the 10th time now and basicaly does nothing else in 15 minutes, but things you shouldn't to with your hardware, yet alone parts worth $10000 upwards ...

I actually just enjoy watching people play with computer parts. I agree that intel and nvidia probably don't want to see him balancing the stuff like that and ripping off mounting plates, but I was still entertained by it. And just so you guys know, they gave him engineering samples of those processors so it really isnt even close to 10k worth of hardware. i don't know that many consumers ever touch engineering samples because they are much more common in the second hand server community, but they go for a fraction of the cost for the same performance. That engineering sample for them goes for roughly $1,200 not $4500 which is a huge difference.

I laughed though when he balanced the motherboard with the Titans though. On the one hand it did balance th board from flipping, but it also upped the stakes for flinging a couple Titans and smacking them on the ground.

A Titan X and a 780ti :P

they have "engineering samples" labels on them because they come directly from Intel and are not meant for resale.

they are in no way lesser products. If you have watched some videos from LTT, pretty much all the CPUs he got are "engineering samples"

and by your logic they are either worth nothing at all or $4500, but most certainly not "roughly $1200"

oh ... and btw ... again it is NOT legal to sell them, that is why when one appears on ebay or similar they won't ask the full price.

Just goes to show that 'techy stuff' is not as delicate as some tend to believe.  You don't have to be too 'precious' in its use.

Linus is in a whole new ballpark though.  The way he handles some uber-expensive stuff... , he must have massive cojones.

Engineering samples are at worst older steppings so yes they are not lesser products. I agree with that much. I in no way implied that they were worth nothing though. I just wanted to put in my two cents and say how much something similar to that would cost to acquire.

you can't legally aquire them.

they are Intel property.

So if Linus would not get them from Intel, then he would have to pay $4500 for an equivalent CPU.

I personally found this fascinating and it seems to me that most people demanding 'respect' for the hardware Linus uses are colon crucified at not having access to the same resources.

I'm very glad he has access to these things so he can produce videos I can enjoy, I personally loved that video - respect to anybody who didn't enjoy it, but don't complain about what he chooses to do with his channel. It's not harming you in any way, is it?

Is it?

Don't have vessel, is this scrapyard wars episode 2?!?!?!?!? :o

No.  It is him treating some mega hardware harshly, stuff doesn't fit so he zip ties etc, not for the sqeemish.

As he knows what he is doing, doesnt have only that stuff and isn't THAT afraid to break it , he treats stuff more harshly than a lot here seem to be comfortable with.

Nope.

Just part 2 of that crazy Xeon server thing (Or is the first one not out on YouTube yet?)

Don't you have vessel? The coolers for his dual xeons didn't fit, so he just zip tied them on, it ended not fixed, because it wasn't posting

Much dodginess for very very expensive hardware

He got one. He'll get another. Saying no just means they lose the publicity.
