Need help with a pc

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

around 750€

This is one of those weird moments when the 960 is a better value than the 290.

How's this look instead?

The h81 chipset needs a BIOS update to work with Haswell refresh CPUs. Either get a different motherboard or switch to the i5-4440 (Same thing pretty much except non-refresh) just to be safe. I also recommend this RAM: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl8d8gbxm since it costs about the same, has a lower latency, higher clock speed, and has the same voltage.

My personal changes: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kPDyBm

Get a bigger, quality branded PSU.

The PSU is the only part that can single-handedly kill your entire system if it fails, And i would not recommend a 550, You dont know what the future holds for wattage.

No case?

Get another case and a quality brand PSU.

The PSu is the only part that can single-handedly kill your entire system if it fails.
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($44.99 @ Newegg)

The Capstone is much better than the cx600m.

Yeah, seems pretty good to me.

Only some minor changes I would personally make, but it looks very good!

Looks good aside from CPU. I would get a non-refresh chip like the i5-4440 to prevent possibly not having a new enough BIOS version out of the box.

Also you could save some money with this mobo http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h81me34

You are going to need a bigger psu for the 290. The 290. Is a great choice of gpu, has that sweet spot of price and performance.

I would reccomend at least a 650w for a 290 to be safe. Being that they draw, 400w under load. If you ever plan to overclock, I would go 750w instead.

A h97 board will be better than a h81. The h81 will require a bios update, and it is generally better to get newer things.

Finally, throw an SSD in there. They make general usage SO much faster, and a pleasant experience. Just make sure to load your OS onto it. 120/128gb shoukd suffice.

Enjoy the build! :D

-snip-

Your quotes are kinda broken :Pnvm.

Kinda agree with your PSU talk, but I think 650W for an OC'ed 290X should be fine too

Not if he upgrades to an unlocked processor and OCs.

Always better safe than sorry.

The Capstone 550 is already more than enough. After all, it's less than ~400w under load--meaning it shouldn't draw more than that and this is with an oc'ed 3960x: http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/radeon-r9-290-review-benchmarks,10.html

Anything more is already overkill.

Well an AIO COULD single handedly kill the entire system but it is very rare for them to leak, much less destroy everything.

Get 1x8GB memory if you are sticking with that motherboard. there is no noticeable speed difference and you have the chance of going 16GB in the future.

That R9 290 is expensive, you can get a R9 290X or GTX 970 for that money.

Well i live in Estonia and im looking to buy the pc parts from here, so the prices on newegg or places like that dont really go for me.

the 970 is 50 euros more expensive and the 290x about 80 euros.

What about corsair atx 2.31 vs series 650w for the r9 290

The VS series isn't good.

Fantastic build. No money wasted anywhere for no reason.

Try to get an IPS monitor tho, with as high as refresh rate you can. There some 1080p IPS`s with 72 or 75 hz if you look around.

I personally recommend a 21:9 IPS of at least 29" or higher. Those will make you ruin your life with gaming addiction.

If you can afford the LG 29um67 is a widescreen IPS with 75hz and freesync (which will work with your 290 and blow your fucking mind)
