Well, you can get the game @ G2Play.net for 25% off and that price will not only stay there (meaning when the game is released), but get lower as time goes on (I mean another 10% as low as 3 weeks later). So saving a measly 10% is no excuse to pre-order a game that you can get for cheaper elsewhere and the price will only go lower as time goes on.

 

Secondly, if you know anything about the restaurant business you would know that not every item on the menu is going to be as good as the item you tried first that you enjoyed. There's no guarantee that the restaurant you get a great cheese burger at will also make a good chicken parmesean and the same goes for that vice versa, the place where you get a great chicken parmesean probably doesn't make a good cheese burger. So therefore, your excuse that they made a good game before therefore this game will be good is pretty much null and void. Or even if you stick to solely cheeseburger joints, just because they make a classic cheeseburger good doesn't mean their gourmet cheeseburgers are going to be good. I know plently of burger joints that can only make a basic cheeseburger good but as soon as they try to do something funky or creative they lose my taste buds.

 

I'll tell you what, if next Tuesday the game does not work on my PC, I'll personally write you a message saying that you were right.

However, this is not going to happen.  CDPR is not a first-time developer.  They are going to get this right.  I feel that the risk is *very* low in issues happening.  If you are talking about developers like Bethesda who are popular for big brands but are bad at PC games support, then I am with you on no pre-ordering, no matter if it is 10%, or even 30% off.

I think we all universally agreed to stop pre-ordering games, as a result of the amount of flops we had in 2013 and 2014. Making random exemptions for yourselves, here and there, will serve as a major inhibitor to the progress of sending a message of making properly functional games at launch. Seeing the pre-order numbers in games such as GTAV and Witcher 3, whatever message you wanted to deliver to the major publishers will be instantly nullified by moving to a different group to praise.

 

At the end of the day; it makes absolutely no difference whether a game is from an "indie developer" versus a "major studio", or "PC friendly" versus "console driven". The games are made by some form of a company at the end of the day, and in this respect, all companies should be treated the same.

I only ever pre-order stuff that i am 100% sure i'll buy no matter what and its more so about the pre-load, sucks to watch everyone else playing/uploading clips while you're downloading the game 2 days later because of your third world internet connection. I'm honestly tired of seeing people whine about it, if you don't want to pre-order then don't? Why are people so preachy about what people do with their own money?

Personally, I just can't wait for this game to come out. I preordered the $150 collector's edition, because I loved the first two, rough as they were. I'm ecstatic about how much game time I should be getting out of this, and I'm hoping it'll hold me over for RPG's until Fallout 4.

Nothing any of you have to say matters, nothing you say will change the business practices of these companies. By buying products prior to verified testing, this sets a corporate mentality that a game can be made "over time", instead of having a decent product at the planned launch date. You are telling them that you are willing to buy their games without properly understanding the performance metrics or fluidity of mechanics. It does not matter what you are after; this is BAD.

Also, the pre-load argument is petty; if you cannot wait for a mere few days to play the game, then you really need to re-evaluate why you got the game in the first place.

But yes, you are correct. The numbers here are very small and won't do jack shit even if everyone on this forum decided to not pre-order games anymore. The reason I personally keep saying something about it is because the people who pre-order games also bitch about the quality of a game on release. I'm sorry, but if you pre-ordered any game that didn't have a reliable review before release, then you have no right to bitch about the quality of the game in my opinion - not saying that is the end-all-say-all, just my opinion.

 

The other reason I keep saying stuff is because the truth is if you stop pre-ordering games, maybe publishers will give the studios more time to fucking finish the game? Maybe not include some #yoloswag editions that cut out content from the final product as paid DLC?

I preordered the game because I trust CDPR and Amazon has a 48-page hard cover comic Witcher book with preorders (long sold out). I'm big on collectors items only if they intrigue me. This is the one and only game I have and will preorder this year. If the game turns out to be a flop then that's on me. That's my mistake and wasted money. I've been waiting on this game for so long I felt it was justified in preordering it. I'm not trying to set a precedent by preordering a game giving developers incentive to release Ubishit level atrocities. (Although I am probably just doing that here in this situation... so what, kill me.)

 

Besides this, I agree with people who say stop preordering games to send a message that we won't buy your shit until you decide to release a functional product. That's something I learnt the hard way with Ubishit's practices (amongst others). It gives these guys incentive to half-ass everything knowing the money is coming in. Not a message we need to be sending if we want things to change.

I preorder very few games and this is one of them. I fully trust CDPR to launch the game in a good condition and patch it when they find any problems. There is no way I would have this kind of trust for a company like Ubisoft, EA, Activision, or any developer from Japan.

If the Witcher 3 has a lot more warmth and polish to it, I may consider buying it. The first 2 Witcher games were missing something that I really can't put my finger on... it's as though the games themselves were given a frontal lobotomy nearing the end of their development. The story and side stories were good, and very immersive in their own way, and many aspects of the first 2 games were well done and had depth. There's just something missing from them, and I hope they fix that with 3.

okay, then they're not part of the cult following that makes the core of gamers extremely excited for the game. Witcher 1 was a PC exclusive, witcher 2 was PC only for an entire year while it was ported to 360. This is actually CDPR's first simultaneous multiplatform release.

Means you're screwed from playing it before launch either way. The GOG version is on trackers right now but you still can't play it because of the server lock. Only way around it is to crack the game which isn't worth it since it will be playable on the 19'th.

Side note: Am I the only one who DOES NOT have a problem with pre ordering? I get why people don't like pre ordering, but when it's a game like Witcher 3, GTA 5, it's worth it IMO.

Quick example right there: GTA IV was disappointing and worst yet, a terrible port on PC. It's good that the new one behaves better but I wouldn't blame anyone who didn't preorder after being burned by 4
