Overvolting a GPU is used in conjunction with overclocking a GPU for it to maintain stbility. It can be dangerous if you put too much voltage over it.

I'd suggest leaving it alone unless you're looking at overclocking and if you are then read up some guides on how to go about it

It adds more voltage so the card can be more stable.

Most GPUs are fine up to 1.3v which is past most software allowances so anything you can set in MSI Afterburner is wayyy more than safe.

You can slide the voltage all the way without worry. They wouldn't let you bake the card. If you put a custom BIOS on the card, be wary though.

Well overvolting could frie your card highly unlikely do.
And yes it makes the card more stable.

If you are going to BIOS mod it and all be careful.

Literally just explained and you skipped me.

I mentioned 1.3v which applies to the GPU no matter what BIOS..

Well, overvolting is bad..... But that's what you can do to overclock higher but stable, just don't be crazy when overvolting.

ok these results are without overvolting :P

no

Like I ran Heaven with a 7% OC and i got 1258

and FireStrike got 7080

are these "accurate"?

Overclocking is not an exact science, I legitimately have no way of knowing. Heaven and Firestrike are different benchmarks, scores are supposed to be wdely different.

This.

Also depends on the vrms on the card, don't expect a reference card to last as long as a lightning or classified or matrix/hall of fame when pushing lots of voltage through the card.

People wanting to overvolt a lot should always try and get these cards, as they're more designed for it.

Yeah if you're looking for GPUs that can handle hard overclocking then getting GPUs like Hawk or Lightning series is better than getting reference GPU. They're designed to be overclocked.

No, overvolting is not bad.
