Case upgrade recommend me please

I was going to buy a Fractal Design S which is their new case which I waited fucking forever for which pissed me off and now it's for nothing, which pisses me off more.

The reason i'm buying a new case is to future proof myself for my future self who wants to add more and more to my own build, but definitely not right now.

So the Design S was perfect, no air restrictions by DVD drives and HDD bays, good cable hiding, good amount of fan mounts, but it's not E-ATX, and not very big (only just bigger than my CM K350 ATM) and I think that I might buy an e-ATX one day when I get a good amount of cash.

So after all that waiting I changed my mind >.< Now I need to find a case that supports e-ATX for X99 motherboards.

Maybe I wont use e-ATX in the end, but I think I should have it just in *case*.

Preferably if someone can find something similar to the Define S but bigger (No not R4/5 it has HDD/DVD bays) would be awesome

If not i'll buy a panthoo pro, corsair D series, or a r5. Thanks

You can actually remove all of the ODD / HDD cages in the R5 to get rid of restriction / add more water cooling support.

Wow, that might just work out. R5 gets better every day LMAO

Are the DVD drives removable too? Are front mounted fans available after you remove them? (x3)

I like the H440 and Enthoo, and the rest kinda look gaming oreitentated.

I was looking for something more funtionality based, so probably the R5 in the end, or the enthoo. They dont look good but work great.

Yes but you can't have a 360 mm rad in the front with a 360/420mm rad in the top, fans how ever you can.

Here's the compatibility chart for radiators on Fractals site.

Right now, about $150, after I buy the case, around $9.75, only $4991.75 AUD left

I think I might spend much less, but it just wont be the same you know :( Got really crappy monitor and keyboard, and GPU

:( you may be able to get a good deal on an GTX 6xx/7xx or Radeon 7xxx series cards on ebay for example you cannot afford one from the current series. You just need to save for a few months ;)

@ Fractal Design Define XL R2 it's a full tower version of the Define R4  and do note you can remove 5.25" Drive bays and Noise dampening foam if you want and then basically have a larger Define S

First off, the idea of "future proofing" is a concept builders should get out of their head. Just because something has enough options for the next 4 years. doesn't mean it will for the next 5. In regards to cases, you'll most likely be changing that out around that time frame (or sooner) anyway when the next "big thing" comes out. Unless you bought something baller like a crazy expensive case from In-Win, it's not really worth fussing over "future proofing" on the chassis.

Second, I can't tell if you are a "console peasant" or using that as a user name ironically. What I mean is I dunno if you're legitimately moving away from consoles for gaming and/or never built a PC before. The name combination plus the few posts in this thread aren't helping. E-ATX isn't the end all be all, you know. Even a well built M-ATX board handles SLI without an issue. If you were planning to SLI, anything beyond 3-way is pointless due to little gains on investment. Which makes me wonder why even concern yourself with maybe getting an E-ATX board in the future?

You build for now not what if scenarios that may never happen. It's no different than someone planning out of maybe doing SLI in the future only to discover by the time they have enough spare cash to do so, the next gen of GPUs are out. If you were waiting "fucking forever" for the Define S, then go for it. You don't need an E-ATX board, especially if that's not even planned as a guarantee. If that case fits all your other criteria, then go for it.

That's just my advice to you. Future proofing is a flawed concept and E-ATX boards are not necessary for baller builds. Plenty of motherboards out there that will serve you fine. Again, I can't tell where you're coming from with that sort of user name. It sorta reads as you're moving from consoles and wanting to overbuild a PC or something. If you're not, advice still stands.

I have right now a R9 270X, which is the equivelient to a HD 7870 Ghz Edition, (See sig)

So my next upgrade will definitely be a R9 3XX or GTX 9XX

Yeah, good idea.

I'll watch some reviews on it. Hopefully it can fit like one for 2 fans on front.

But, as far as i've seen, Define S is the only case is the only case with back mounted mechanical drives
